Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."
I should be able to follow the KISS formula for this one, since we didn't get up until noon yesterday and we didn't do anything other than have some nachos for brunch and a late dinner at the favorite watering hole. In between, Mary worked on the index and I did some TV watching of the only baseball game of note, my beloved Red Sox, along with some reading. I'll get back to the Sox in a bit.
That snowstorm that dumped 30" inches of new snow on parts of the country yesterday, mostly spared us here in the Tri-Cities area. We got perhaps two inches of heavy wet snow that required the assistance of both of our neighbors to remove from the sidewalks in front of the manse and our shared driveway. Even our neighbor, Ron, who has a self--propelled snowblower, had to push his machine to make it through. While snow is not all that uncommon in our area in April, the cold temperatures are.
We have a current temperature of 33° as we head for today's high of 36° with a 50% chance of an additional one-inch of additional snowfall. However, there is good weather news on the horizon. By Wednesday, the nighttime temperatures are not forecast to fall below freezing anymore. By this coming Sunday, the forecast from the NWS is for temperatures to reach the 50s and never fall below that any time soon. We'll take it! The sun will rise today @ 7:01 a.m. and set @ 8:28 p.m.
Sports news for yesterday is easy, as not much happened. The 7 - 7 Cubs were postponed in their game against the 8 - 6 Braves due to inclement weather. The Cubs next opponent, the 9 - 7 St. Louis Cardinals, come to town for a night game on Tuesday @ 7:05 p.m. EDT.
The 4 - 9 Tigers had both the rescheduled game from Saturday and the regular game against the 7 - 7 Yankees that was scheduled for yesterday, postponed due to that weather. The Tigers are expecting their next opponent, the 5 - 10 Orioles, on Tuesday @ 6:40 p.m. EDT.
The 6 - 2 Caps were also postponed in their game against the 6 - 3 Lansing Lugnuts yesterday due to that same weather. The Caps welcome the 5 - 6 Bowling Green Hot Rods to the Fifth/Third Ballpark on Tuesday evening @ 6:35 p.m. EDT.
Otherwise, it was s tough fight to get the fur-children out for their business trips yesterday. STWD finally had to give it up, while Ginger was somewhat more amenable to being outside. Either way, they would have stayed inside if they could have.
Today, I'll do more reading, more highlighting/commenting, and perhaps get to changing the strings on a couple of the girls. Mary will continue indexing and also reading of the book she has finally been able to get past the first tedious pages. Otherwise, well watch the snow melt. Ciao.
