Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 5:30 a.m. in "The City." Our current temperature under clear skies is a cool but comfortable, 50°. The NWS forecast indicates that it feels more like 46° with a wind out of the northwest @ 10 mph.

The sun will rise this morning into those azure blue skies @ 6:30 a.m. and set tonight @ 8:52 p.m.

Tomorrow, Mother's Day will be similar, at least weatherwise, with a high temperature of 63°, albeit under mostly-cloudy skies. Monday will see a continued increase in high temperatures all the way up to 72°, but the skies will once again be overcast. At long last, spring has truly sprung.

Fortunately for the 4th place in the NL Central Cubs, they couldn't lose yet again yesterday, as they were rained out in their game versus the NL West-leading 1st place Dodgers. The Cubs and the Dodgers are scheduled to play a doubleheader today with game one beginning @ 1:05 p.m. as LHP Drew Smyly, 1 - 2, makes his next start. Game two will begin at approximately 7:40 p.m. as LHP Dan Norris, 0 - 1, takes the hill for the north siders.

My beloved last place in the AL East Red Sox, and their pitiful record of 10 - 17, fell to that 12 - 13, 2nd place in the AL Central other team from Chicago, by a losing score of 2 - 4, with LHP Nathan Eovaldi, 1 - 1, taking the loss. The Sox and that other team, return to the field today @ 4:05 p.m. as RHP Eduardo Rodriguez, 0 - 2 tries to stem the tide.

The 8 - 17, 5th place in the AL Central Tigers and losing pitcher Beau Brieske, 0 - 2, took it on the chin from the 2nd place in the AL West @ 16 - 11 Astros, 2 - 3. Brieske pitched well, but not good enough, and thus his latest loss. Today's game with 0 - 4 RHP Nick Pivetta on the mound for the Sox begins @ 4:10 p.m.

Sadly, the 8 - 17 6th place in the Midwest League East Whitecaps, fell to the 11 - 14, 4th place in the Midwest League East Lansing Lugnuts, 5 - 6. Today's game begins @ 1:05 p.m.

Our outdoor renovations are done! Everything looks great, but now we need more plants for the vast gardens. Given that today is forecast by the NWS to be a warm and sunny day, we'll avoid the garden centers until Monday or Tuesday to avoid the traffic and the crowds before purchasing more plants.

We completed the indoor chores yesterday and worked on several crossword puzzles too. Mary did more ear reading and walked with Ginger for a longer distance than did STWD and I.

Dinner was a freshly prepared pineapple and vegan pepperoni topped pizza, Mary's best to date,

Pre-sliced atop my homemade wooden pizza paddle.

Today, we've promised ourselves to do more spring cleaning of the manse, but the promise of a new spring day may alter that plan slightly. We can only put that off for so long. We also need to visit our auxiliary gardens for some plantings and to check on our garlic which the local squirrel population was last observed digging up to see what we had buried. According to the host of The Flowerland Show, Rick Vuyst, the temperatures will be warm enough overnight from now on to allow for outdoor planting to commence.

Otherwise, not much is on tap today and that's okay with me. We may walk over to Centertown to see the bicycles that will be on display there, yak permitting. Ciao.
