Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 6:30 a.m. in"The City", where the rains have come once again to the Tri-Cities area. The current temperature under those cloudy/rainy skies is 52°, but it feels like 49° with a wind out of the northeast @ 10 mph.

Those showers are forecast by the NWS to continue all morning until about 12:00 p.m., when the rain is supposed to end. We have nearly completed our driveway and vast gardens makeover, when I say we, I mean our landscape contractor. So far, everything looks great, but the rain this morning may push back the finish until another day.

The high temperature today is forecast to reach 63°, which is six degrees warmer than yesterday after the sun rose @ 6:31 a.m., but well before it sets @ 8:51 p.m. tonight. Tomorrow, the high will reach 64° under sunny skies. By the by, we made it! No more daily highs below 60°, but still several nightly lows closer to 50°.

The 8 - 16, 6th place in the Midwest League East Division W. Michigan White Caps struggled mightily, but they fell once again to the 4th place in the Midwest East Division Great Lakes Loons last night, 5 - 6. Tonight's game commences @ 7:05 p.m.in Lansing.

The 9 - 15, NL Central 4th place Cubs had the day off yesterday. They open a weekend series against the 16 - 7 AL West leading L.A. Dodgers today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT. The Cubs still have not announced a starting pitcher as of this writing.

My beloved 10 - 16, AL East last place Red Sox, looked awful as they fell hard to the AL West leading 17 - 10 L.A. Angels last night, 0 - 8. Starting and losing Sox RHP Tanner Houck, 0 - 3, was totally hittable by the Angels' batters, while the Angels' starter, Shohei Ohtani shutout the Sox' hitters with another great performance.

The Sox welcome that other, 11 - 13, AL Central 3rd place team from Chicago, for a game tonight @ 7:10 p.m., when Sox "Ace" RHP Nathan Eovaldi, 1 - 0, pitches for the beloved. Despair is creeping into the Red Sox clubhouse as their losses mount and their hated rivals, the 18 - 7 AL East leading Yankees look nearly unbeatable.

Finally, last night, the AL Central, 8 - 16, 5th place  Tigers tied the AL West 2nd place Astros, in the bottom of the 8thinning with a prodigious home run off the bat of Jaimer Candelario. However, the Tigers' usually reliable closer, LHP Gregory Soto, couldn't hold off the Astros and the Tigers didn't score in the bottom of the inning to lose the game 2 - 3 for Soto, and deny starting LHP Tarik Skubal the win.

On a happier note, Miguel "Miggy" Cabrera got two base hits, numbers 3,007 and 3,008, to pass Tigers' HOF outfielder, the immortal Al Kaline, as Miggy moved to number 31 on the list of all time MLB™ greats, as Miggy motors towards his induction into the MLB™ HOF himself. Tonight, the Tigers are once again in Houston to face the Astros for an 8:10 p.m. start as rookie RHP Beau Brieske, 0 - 1, pitches for the Tigers.

Once again, I'llsay it folks, buckle up, it's going to be a long season. Sigh.

I never got to those indoor chores yesterday due to my appointments. Instead, I made more vegan Italian meatballs along with reading the newspapers and finishing three crossword puzzles. Later, I finished my latest novel and so my day was full.

As of now, my yak is doing okay, so I am taking it day by day to see how it goes. Like my son says, I am 70 years of age, so I have to do what I can, enjoy what I can, and give thanks that I can do those things I love, like painting, music, and reading. Great advice. Ciao.
