Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City", where a current temperature of 42° under clear skies will be our overnight low temperature before we rebound to today's high temperature of 57° under cloudy skies that will turn to rainy skies as we head into the evening hours. With a negligible wind of 1 mph out of the southwest, it feels like 42°.

The forecast from the NWS indicates that we are finally done with high temperatures in the 50s. We should see the 60s and 70s from now on. In fact, Friday's high temperature is forecast to reach that magical, mysterious 60° or above.

Today, the sun will rise @ 6:51 a.m. and it will set later @ 8:50 p.m.

Baseball is not being very, very good to me. Truth be told, the Cubs, the Tigers, the Red Sox, and the Caps are all playing poorly. The Caps are an "A" level team, so that's to be expected. But the others are all MLB™ teams and to be playing at this level is unacceptable.

I cite as proof, that the 8 - 15 Caps dropped two to the 9 - 14 Lansing Lugnuts yesterday as they made up the rainout from Tuesday. The Caps lost both ends of their doubleheader, 5 - 6 and 1 - 7. Better luck tonight @ 7:05 p.m. in Lansing.

However, the woeful 9 - 15 Cubs and RHP Kyle Hendricks, 1 - 3, fell to that other 11 - 13 team from Chicago last night, 3 - 4, in a game the Cubs should have won. Home runs from Nico Hoerner and Patrick Wisdom should have been enough, but...The Cubs get today to lick their wounds before the 16 - 7 Dodgers arrive for a game @ 2:20 p.m. No pitcher has been announced for the Cubs.

The equally woeful 8 - 15 Tigers split their doubleheader against the 10 - 14 Pirates, winning the first game 3 - 2, but dropping the second game, 2 - 7. The Tigers travel to Houston for a game tonight @ 8:10 p.m. for a game versus the 14 - 11 Astros, with LHP Tarik Skubal, 1 - 2, taking the mound for the Tigers.

Last, but certainly not least in the category of woeful teams, the 10 - 15 Red Sox were doing well and should have won their game versus the 16 - 10 Angels last night. But once 10 innings had elapsed, the Red Sox had lost their lead and they lost, 5 - 10 in 10 innings. The Sox get to try again today @ 1:35 p.m., as they send 42 YO LHP Rich Hill, 0 - 1, to the mound versus the Angels phenom, Shohei Ohtani, 2 - 2.

Buckle your seat belts, boys and girls, it's going to be a long season.

We are nearing the completion of our outdoor projects here at the manse. Our rebuilt shared driveway is nearly complete. Our vast gardens have all been freshly mulched and they look great. I'll share some pix when the work is all done.

I have a couple of stops to make today and then I return to do the indoor chores and read more. Mary and I are collectively ear reading a novel, she is also ear reading her own, and I am reading a book in my preferred large-print format too. That's all folks. Ciao.
