Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 11:30 p.m. in "The City."
We have a current temperature of 40° under clear-skies that feels more like 36° due to the wind-chill generated by a four mph wind speed. Yes my loyal readers, although 18 records were set by the recent "Heat Wave" here in southwest Michigan, the warm weather is over. We'll be seeing temperatures in the mid-40° to lower 50° range for the foreseeable future, with periods of rain thrown into the mix for good measure.
However, there are no advisories, watches, nor warnings in effect. for the next few days.
The NWS in GR is showing a barometric pressure of 30.11" and rising, while my own DTWS is showing 29.54" and falling. Go figure. Tomorrow's high temperature forecast calls for a high of 52° and a low temperature of 36°. The sun will rise @ 7:32 a.m. and set later @ 5:24 p.m.
We did a lot of work around the manse today, both indoors and out. We did the indoor chores that had been put off by my ortho appointment yesterday. I also made vegan Coleslaw and vegan beest, following our preferred recipe. The taste and texture of the beest is excellent and part of that became part of our dinner, while part may go towards making a veganized version of Hamburger Helper™.
Then I went outdoors and moved some leaves around and cut back the rose bushes in the front of the manse. Last year, I didn't listen to Mary's advice, based on her years of experience watching her dad. He had won awards from one of the USA's premier rose propagators. I should have known better. This year, I followed her advice and I hope that the results will be better. I still have to cut down the roses in the vast gardens in the back forty.
We decided that the fur-children would not be deterred from going walkabout, so we traveled to Lake Forest cemetery and roamed an area we don't often visit due to lots of local dogs and their humans passing through. We won't make that mistake again.
I did find several interesting things to photograph, so I'll include some of those pix here.

Did I capture the deer grazing in the forest? |
|
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. |

Donald was obviously a Michigan Wolverines football fan.

|
Or, was there a deer in this shot?

|
A poignant reminder that children too often go before their parents.

Perhaps a bit early for the holidays, but why not?

Once again gaia will reclaim her soil.

Some quick internet research indicates that this is written in the Latgalian language, a small dialect from the Eastern part of Latvia. |
Next, we traveled to the Grand Haven State Park to catch some pix of the lighthouses, but more importantly, the setting sun and the colorful skies during the "Golden Hour."

All that is left now are the fallen leaves and our shovel cleaning pot.

I just watched the passage of the southbound run of the train on the RSTL. In yesterday's blog, I noted that I saw locomotive # 2071. It turns out that the number was actually 2070. Same locomotive, and I think it was sporting the HESR livery of the Genessee and Wyoming Railroad, part of the MMRR system. It is hard to tell in the dark of night. However, one of the stalwarts was in the lead, #2019. In tow, they had eight CHCs. and 10 CGCs. I didn't sense that they were loaded as the manse wasn't rocking and rolling.
Tomorrow, we have plans to pick up some library books and explore a part of the Lake Forest cemetery that requires walking up some steep stairs that that fur-children's presence would make very difficult, so they won't be going.
That's about it for tomorrow. Ciao.
