Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 10:45 p.m. in "The City."
According to the NWS in GR, we have several advisories, watches, and warnings in effect.
Leading off our hit parade is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of Southwest MI until 12:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. We also have a Wind Advisory in effect for that same area until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. Gusty Winds will blow out of the south and may cause power outages. In fact, I saw our lights flicker here at the manse earlier.
Of course, STWD hunkered down in her upstairs hide - e - hole to ride out the storm. She wasn't too frightened, as she wasn't shaking.
I felt bad for her, as Ginger showed up in my studio to get what I have dubbed Desk Treats, but softy that I am when it comes to Sugar, I delivered Sugar's to her hide - e- hole, twice.
Update! STWD has left her hide- e- hole, so she and Ginger came by in person for those treats. Update of the update. STWD returned to her hide-e-hole before being summoned by Mary for her fiula out for the night.
Plus, I observed the southbound passage of the train on the RSTL. However, in the dark it is hard to identify the locomotives. I know that I saw #2019, but I think I also saw a locomotive #2171. I can't find any info on that in the roster of locomotives for the MMRR.
However, it could be a recent acquisition by the MMRR of an EMD SD 60 perhaps once belonging to the Union os Southern Pacific Railroad. One of life's little mysteries. That would make it a 3,800 HP, six axle locomotive, last made in 1995! This is a pic of that locomotive in Union Pacific livery I found on the internet
Looks like the locomotive I saw, but I think it had MMRR livery. |
At any rate, the train was moving slow and seemed loaded when it passed by @ 11:15 p.m., towing nine CHCs, and 12 CGCs.
We have a current temperature of 56°, that feels like 51° with 21 mph winds blowing and the rain falling!
The current Barometric Pressure readings are 29.60" and rising, that's from the NWS. My DTWS shows 29.06" here on the shores of Lake Michigan.
We don't know when it happened, but across the street from the manse, a large tree was split in two, either last night or this morning. I took several shots with my smaller telephoto lens at varying focal lengths to capture the damage.
Instead of falling and damaging the house, the tree fell into itself. |
Same shot with a much closer view. |
Normal focal length. |
However, Gaia is not done with GH just yet. We also have a Gale Warning in effect until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. The NWS is forecasting wind speeds of 20 - 25 knots and gusts up to 45 knots, which have the potential to produce waves on the "Big Lake" of six to nine feet! Naturally the Small Craft Advisory was canceled since the Gale Warning superseded that.
We made it to my orthopedist appointment in Muskegon this afternoon. My yak injections went very well and I was in and out int 45 minutes. Mary seemed to think that that was a long time, but in the past, she didn't have to wait in the car to chauffeur me back home.
Normally, Tuesday is our day for indoor chores, but that ortho appointment has pushed those back until tomorrow. However, that allowed Mary and I to close the only open screen in the manse, the one in the foyer, and also clean several of the inner window sills before winter. Plus, we made an executive decision and sent our repotted/transplanted was begonias to that great compost pile in the sky. Next year, we can buy them back as soil. Oh there are still some wax begonias in our Mr. Stacky™ planer on the front porch that will be joining the other s soon.
In addition, I finally installed the clips for my outdoor Christmas lights display on the front porch overhang. They will have plenty of time to set solidly before I need to employ them.
We worked another crossword puzzle and I did more reading. We also watched another episode in our dwindling supply of Dharma and Greg along with another episode of From Lark Rise to Candleford. Fortunately, we have a sizeable number of those still available.
So tomorrow, we have those indoor chores, perhaps some outdoor chores, and more music to play. Mary is knitting something, but I don't yet know what that is, as it looks like knitted yarn to me.
The sun will rise tomorrow @ 7:31 a.m. and set later @ 5:25 p.m. Ciao.
