Good morning or good evening, wherever you maybe It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I said I would reserve my commentary on the Cubs season for tonight, and so here it is. Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9XtDyDUjIU Yes Steve, the Cubs won today. The curse is no more. No more goats. No more black cats. No more Bartman balls. No Leon Durham. No Bill Buckner.

I started blogging about the 2016 Cubs back in spring training and now here I am. 65 years old, 57 years of wait til next year. 108 years of futility and Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! All of the waiting was worthwhile. I had to wait until 12:45 EDT, but the Cubs won! I can finally say that the Cubs are the World Champions following their come from behind trips through the World Series and through an equally improbable season. Sadly, the broadcasters for the game were less than terrific.

The Cubs defeated the Indians in 10 innings by a score of 8 - 7. Hey Hey! Holy Mackeral! Holy Cow! etc. Ron Santo was right, this was the year. To borrow from Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that." Oh wait, there is just one more thing to add to this improbable narrative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMdqUlbkyLo Enjoy!

Meanwhile, now that I have my pulse nearly back to normal, I can tell you about the balance of our day yesterday. We took the morning safari with the fur-children who are now sleeping on the bed. There was too much excitement, even for them. Our kitchen is now back to normal. John will be moving on to the dining room and then the mud room. Mary is excited about having her kitchen back. Incidentally, the kitchen looks great in its new shade of lemonade yellow.

We did run a few errands yesterday, including a stop for lunch at Taco Bell™ for bean burritos after stopping at Ace Hardware™ in Spring Lake for a basement fire extinguisher and a stop at the grocery store for some veggies. We did make it to our book club and then home after a stop at JWs. We have to go out today to get more paint, but that should put an end to our travels for the week. Mary has a haircut appointment this afternoon, but I can stay home and not have to go out. I hear the girls calling my name.

I am certain that the weather for yesterday and early today was made more bearable by the late-night heroics of the entire Cubs team. I nearly didn't make it. As I noted to Mary, I'm too old for this. But I made it through to the final out.

We have a current temperature of 55° under cloudy/rainy skies. Today's high temperature is forecast to be 60° with only a 10% chance of rain. The sun will rise @ 8:22 a.m. and set @ 6:33 p.m. Ciao.

Oh, did I mention, the Cubs won!
