Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."
Jeep™ spotting is getting complicated. There are simply too many traversing the highways and byways of the Tri-Cities area. Speaking as a neophyte when it comes to Jeeps™, the only thing I know for certain is that none of the ones I spotted were pre-1997 models. I do know that none had rectangular headlights either, something that the Jeep™ people decided was a good idea for the Wrangler YJ models in 1987. That model was replaced by the older style round headlight version of the Wrangler YJ in 1996, according to a source on the Wrangler forum. I have to take their word, since my Jeep™ Sensei hasn't taught me about that yet.
I also spotted two Chevrolet Corvettes, one an Indianapolis 500 pace car replica, and the other a ZO6 model. As Adam once noted, both were driven by well to do older guys who can now afford the car of their dreams.
Sad news in the sports world, Muhammad Ali, the self professed "Greatest" heavyweight champion boxer passed away. He was 74 years old. Another great person who led an interesting and sometimes controversial life.
In other sports news, the Cubs took a game from the D'Backs yesterday afternoon by a score of 6 - 0. The Cubs had a rollicking 8th inning, with intentional walks, pinch hit RBIs, hit batters, doubles, and an appearance by their closer, Pedro Strop, who hasn't had the chance to get many saves this season due to the Cubs being in very few close games. That gives the Cubs a record of 38 - 15 in the N. L. Central, a full 9.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Pirates.
The Tigers crushed that other team from Chicago by a score of 10 - 3. That gives the Tigers a sub .500 record of 26 - 28 in the A. L. Central, still good enough for 4th place.
My beloved Red Sox fell to the Blue Jays, 2 - 5 to fall back into a statistical tie with the Orioles in the A. L. East with a record of 32 - 23. Good news, the Sox got Jackie Bradley Jr. back from his stay on the paternity list. Sad news, Xander Bogaerts hitting streak ended at 26 games. The Sox are in need of another competent starting pitcher if they are going to stay in contention. Maybe someone from within the organization can step up and be that pitcher.
The Caps won again, 2 - 1 over the South Bend Cubs. That gives the Caps with record of 32 - 19 in the M.W. L. East, a full 2 game lead over those same South Bend Cubs.
Trainspotting yesterday was possibly a continuation of the spot from Thursday. Locomotives 2019 and 2057 rolled through "The City" headed north at 12:20 p.m. In tow were one BC, 28 CHCs, six DBTCs, with one of those at the end, and a lone DWTC. I have no proof, but the fully loaded cars with their engines, may have been the northbound train that I thought I missed the day before.
We never did make it to the big-box most everything store yesterday. Plans call for us to go today, after the morning safari with STWD. According to the NWS, T-storms can be expected in the afternoon with a 40% chance, increasing to 80% later in the evening. That will make watering unnecessary until Monday on the lawns and gardens of the PE. The intrepid one will not be happy about those T-storms. Right now, the temperature outside the WW is 65° under cloudy skies. Today's high is forecast to be 76° according the NWS.
Other than that trip to the big-box nearly everything store and a stop at the vacuum store to retrieve our recently serviced vacuum, we have no plans. Mary is making progress on the weaving in of the loose ends on her nearly completed poncho. She started that project while we were in Florida. She is nearly done.
The sun will rise at 6:06 a.m. and set at 9:20 p.m. Ciao.
