Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 12:00 a.m. in "The City."
The current temperature is 56° under mostly clear skies. Today's high will be 79° under sunny skies. We decided that yesterday's weather was just about as good as it gets here in West Michigan. The low 70s and low humidity coupled with a light breeze, made for a beautiful day. It's humid right now, and for the next several days, through the Fourth of July It will be in the low 80° range with no precipitation.
Mary said that I should spend a good portion of this blog describing the sheer joy I got when my new shoes arrived earlier yesterday. This is probably, no not probably, it is the first time that I tried on a pair of shoes that actually accommodated my wide feet without any problem. While that may not seem like a big deal to most people, to me it is like Christmas in June, only better. Later today, I am going to see the chiropractor to find out if the new orthotics that he ordered will work for me. As the late John Denver often said, "Far Out!"
Baseball news was mostly good. The Cubs handily defeated the Reds, 9 - 2, to move to 51 - 26 in the N. L,. Central, 10.5 games ahead of the Cardinals. The Cubs face the Mets tonight.
The Tigers also won, 10 - 3, over the Marlins. That gives the Tigers an A. L. Central record of 40 - 38, good enough for 3rd place, just 7.5 games behind the division leading Indians. The Tigers face the Rays tonight.
My beloved Red Sox are now 5.5 games behind the Orioles, after dropping a game to the Rays, 0 - 4. The Sox have the day off, before facing the Angels on Friday night. The Sox have a record of 42 - 36. They still need pitching.
The Caps finally beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods by a score of 10 - 7. That still leaves the Caps in the cellar of the Midwest League Eastern Division, with a record of 2 - 5. They do have company though, as the Hot Rods and the Dayton Dragons have the same record. The Caps play again tonight @ home against the Hot Rods.
I did get the watering done yesterday before settling in to read, and before I put on my editor's hat to give Mary's index my usual perusal. We got the index out of here about 4:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon That was before Mary and I walked downtown for dinner. I was wearing my new shoes and they felt great. In fact, I liked the fit so much, that I ordered another pair.
Mary tells me that today, we can take a nice long walk with STWD, well at least as long as the intrepid one can handle, and then she will get busy on the valances for the music room. She has them all cut out and pinned, so it is just a matter of stitching them on her sewing machine. The next indexing job is not due in until July 5th.
Other than more reading and watering, I have no plans. We will be going to the chiropractor this afternoon as I previously noted, but that's about it. Mary will knit more I'm sure.
I have to replace the battery in one of my larger helicopters, but that just takes two screws and some two-sided tape. I already have my FAA required license and as long as I don't fly them near airports, military bases or the area near the wildfires n CA, I am good to go.
The sun will rise today @ 6:08 a.m. and ser @ 9:28 p.m. Ciao.
