Good morning GH, It is just past 6:00 a.m. in "The City," and our current temperature is 43°, as we head for today's high of 55°. We are expecting a few showers today with a 30% chance. However by tomorrow, the chance of showers increases to 90% with thunder and wind. That is expected to be the pattern until next weekend.
It was a nice day for a morning walk with Sugar the Weather Dog. However, Mary guessed right and dressed warm enough when we went out. I didn't and had to go back. Once we were both properly dressed, we were off. Sugar was always properly dressed, so she couldn't understand why the delay in getting going. A good walk before working in the back forty with Sugar as sidewalk supervisor.
I think that the grass seed that I planted in the back forty should be well watered, assuming that it doesn't get washed away. We also got some additional pots filled with potting soil and seeds for cucumbers and beans. Those should be fine. Mary called the local garden show yesterday, and I have to apologize. It seems that here in Western Michigan, you must wait to put tomatoes and peppers outdoors until about May 10th. According to the expert on the radio, those plants are "sensitive" to the cold. However, Mary does need to be more attentive to hardening them off on the cool but sunny spring days we have been experiencing. That means that for a few hours each day, her indoor garden needs to go outside and get used to the temperatures of early spring.
Once we were done outside, Mary decided that she wanted to take a drive to the north. We returned something to the big box home center and then we were off. We didn't make it to our original destination Pentwater, but instead turned off to go to New Era. We passed through several small towns and learned, once we got to New Era, that we had been there once before, about one year ago. Thus on the way back, as we traveled smaller roads, we passed through several other towns we had seen once before.
Our puzzle is ready for framing, so we may take it in on Monday. That depends on the weather. Mary and I don't like to drive in the rain. But since it will be raining off and on all week that may make it more difficult. I also get to put away my puzzle building table for another year. Mary thinks I need another craft type hobby, preferably one that would create a piece of statuary for the garden. I just don't have time for anything else in my schedule right now.
A quick sports report. Tigers lose, but still doing fine. Boys in blue lose, four in a row now. Beloved Red Sox win over Toronto, now just one game under 500. Caps win too, now even for the season. Hawks and Bulls play this afternoon.
Sunrise is in about 45 minutes at 6:44 a.m. Sunset will occur at 8:40 p.m. Then, walking with Sugar, guitar playing, reading of the newspaper and other things. A busy day. Ciao.
