Good morning GH. We are fast closing on 5:00 AM here in our fair city and I was awakened by the sound of fireworks about one half hour ago. And so it begins. Sugar the Weather Dog couldn't wait to get to the bedroom and sleep next to me to avoid the noise. Anyway, I am digressing once again. The current temperature in the offices of Jax Meanderings is 75 degrees. Outside, we show 62 as we head for what is purported to be a rain free day and a high of 75. Hmmm a familiar number.
I doubt that I will make the 4th festivities on the waterfront, as they happen about 10:00 PM and the crowds can be a bit overwhelming. If today was any indicator, the crowds have already begun to arrive and that means traffic and hubbub. Isn't hubbub a great word?
In a change of pace, it is time for the sports report. The boys in blue defeated the Oakland Athletics 3 - 1, behind another stellar performance from the probably soon to be traded Matt Garza. Now if they could just trade their left fielder, we might be a better defensive team. The Tigers behind a league leading 13 - 0 Max Scherzer defeated the Bluejays 6 - 2. They have a slim 1/2 game lead over the tribe from Cleveland. My beloved Red Sox were also victorious 2 - 1 over the Padres. The Sox have a 3.5 game lead over the Orioles and 6 games over the Yankees. The Caps got pounded 0 - 8 by the Great Lakes Loons. Funny, the Tigers site has a "Watch the future Tigers" link.
Our plans for the day are to do very little. A little grilling, a little reading, a little blogging by Mary, since mine will be done, a bit of music making, and a bit of "Bone Zone" for Sugar. That is unless the booming becomes overwhelming to her. I also plan to repair my helicopter and pre-flight it for the day. You never know when it may be needed.
I got good news yesterday. I discovered that the medical insurance company paid my Emergency Room bill. I had another piece of good news, but that is something that I can't really share publicly. All in all, a good day. I also spent some time this early AM going over the various dog rescue sites. I have to be careful, because it can be so easy to bring a dog home. I can dream can't I? Speaking of dreams, Sugar wouldn't let us out the door yesterday afternoon as I had been seen with a bone in my hand. I had stopped off at the bone store in town earlier. Sugar laid by the door in the mud room and wouldn't move. I am pretty certain that she will be in a similar mood today.
I was reading about breed characteristics and one of her Corgi characteristics is a sharp intellect and a long memory for the important things in life. She also displays the guard dog mentality that is part of those same characteristics. She is intensely loyal to me and Mary too.
Otherwise, not much is happening. It will soon be...Tea time and time for doing not much. Mostly I will get to listen to my gardens grow. Ciao.
