Good early morning GH. I am fast closing on 2:30 AM here in "The City," as Jack Webb used to say on the old radio and television series, Dragnet. The current temperature readout on the digital instruments here in the Weather Center is 80 degrees, while the Weather Channel app is telling me that it is 69 right outside the window to the Editorial Office. I guess that the indoor instruments are a bit behind those that are internet powered. We are showing an increasing chance of precipitation as the next few days wear on, but nothing that will likely preclude the necessity of watering the gardens of our palatial estate.
In other news, I played some on my guitar, Blue, and my ability to form my fingers into accurate positions improves with each practice session. I guess that "Practice makes perfect" is a truism. Due in part to my now nearly three year old illness, I had lost quite a bit of my skills on the guitar.
Sugar and I took two walks on Friday and the first was abbreviated by some leftover nuts shooting off firecrackers. Sugar couldn't wait to get home. Once home, we mostly did very little. This retirement gig is a tough one, but somebody has to do it. Mary helped me with the Friday crossword in the Tribune which for her was an interruption. Oh well, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
Today I have promised to get down to helping with some highlighting for Mary's work. I hope she can explain what she wants. That's an inside joke for Mary. I don't mind it, but I do need directions that I can follow. I guess that I am more of a visual learned than an oral learner.
In sports, the boys in blue were a little off their game, well when haven't they been lately, as they fell to the Pirates 1 - 6. The Tigers looked dominant as they beat the Tribe, 7 - 0 behind Rick Porcello. My beloved Red Sox took out the Angels, 6 - 2 and have a solid 5 1/2 game lead over the Orioles and 6 games over the Yankees. The Caps handled the Great Lakes Loons, 7 - 2.
Otherwise, a trip to the farmer's market is on tap for early today. Mary needs some onions and things. Me, I go along with Sugar for the exercise although Sugar can't go into the market per a city ordinance. Makes sense to me. Speaking of Sugar the Weather Dog, I don't know if I mentioned it the other day, but Mary came up with a great idea to take Sugar to our local dog park. After a get acquainted session with the other K9 attendees, she ran her little legs off until we stopped her and made her come home.
Right now I am listening to the internet radio station, and the Cryan Shames are playing that Chicago sound made popular by Chicago's New Colony Six and nationwide by the Byrds and others. The sound features the unique sound of a Rickenbacker guitar. I never could get enough of that sound.
Now, it is time for bed again and then of course...Tea time. Ciao.
