Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and
across the world. It is just after 2:30 a.m. in "The City."
The current temperature is 41° under clear skies, with winds of 17 mph that make it feel more like 32°. Today's high
is
forecast to be 50°!
A
Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 8:00 a.m. Monday, from St Joseph to Grand Haven.
South winds to 30 knots and waves from 3 to 6 feet are expected with the highest
waves occurring north of Holland.
Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid navigating in these hazardous conditions.
Monday, there is a 100% chance for rain in the forecast from the NWS. We should be in the 40s for the next several days, with the exception of Wednesday's high of 39°. which will be accompanied by snow-showers.
The sun will rise
today @ 8:08 a.m.
and
set later @ 7:43 p.m. In case you've forgotten,
Daylight Savings Time began @ 2:00 a.m. this morning.
We got up late yesterday and read our books before taking a walk with the fur-children to the library to return a book I was finished with. I guess since I just finished another book, we'll be returning that one today when we walk to the Community Center to see a play entitled
Old Ringers, an
adult bawdy comedy,
in which four senior women try to fight the shrinking economy and their shrinking
pocketbooks by opening up a home phone sex service after receiving an
unsolicited obscene phone call! This play was written by Joe Simonelli, an American playwright. As befits our status as Senior Citizens, we'll be attending the Sunday matinee @ 2:00 p.m.
Once we had walked the fur-children, we decided to take a ride in the country and see someplace that we'd never been before. We started out for New Era, but instead ended up in the small hamlet of Rothbury, MI. In the dictionary, next to the words one-horse town, would be a picture of Rothbury, with its one Ace Hardware™ store and a steel foundry.
 |
A cute town-square, but not much was happening. |
 |
Even the hardware store was small. |
Along the way, the light traffic allowed Mary to slow or stop so that I could take pix of one of my favorite subjects, old farm barns and houses.
 |
This barn might be good subject for a painting. |
 |
So too might this one. |
 |
Interesting. |
 |
The only newer thing near this barn was the Farmall™ tractor. |
 |
Renovations never got past the dilapidated stage on this farmhouse. |
As we meandered our way towards home, we passed through the City of Whitehall, MI, home of the World's Largest Weather Vane.
 |
At least 50 feet tall! |
Before we left Whitehall, Mary espied a yarn store and we had to stop and add to her stash.
 |
Open less than one-year, this shop has a small but nice selection of yarns. |
Since we were out and the hordes had not yet descended on our favorite watering hole, we stopped for some adult beverages and a mini bean burrito for Mary and a basket of crinkle fries for me to to use as ketchup delivery devices,
Since I had my camera, I took this pic of a nearly-full moon visible in the late afternoon sky.
 |
Just because. |
Today, we will have to get up a little earlier and feed the fur-children before we head to that aforementioned matinee at the Community Center. Otherwise, we have no specific plans. Ciao.
