The current temperature is 37° under cloudy-skies with winds of 18mph that make it feel more like 27°. Today's high is forecast to be 41°. It looks like we'll be stuck in the 40s for many days.
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 8:00 p.m. tonight from St Joseph to Grand Haven. West winds of 30 knots will produce waves from 6 to 9 feet on the "Big Lake."
The sun will rise today @ 7:59 a.m. and set later @ 7:49 p.m. Given all of the mostly-bad news of late, the longer daylight hours are at least one good thing.
Otherwise, there is not much to report. All of the major sports, including my personal passion, MLB™, have postponed or suspended their activities/games for at least two weeks. The NCAA has taken the unprecedented action of cancelling the March Madness Tournament for 2020. No men's nor women's tournaments will be held due to the evolving COVID-19 public health threat. The PGA and the NHL have also suspended play. To borrow from Forrest Gump and it's Oscar™ winning star, Tom Hanks, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otm4RusESNU
Ironically, Mr. Hanks, the now 63 year-old star and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, also 63, were traveling in Australia when the actor took to Instagram on Thursday night to ensure fans that he and his wife were doing well. The couple are in the age-group that is at higher risk from the Covid19 virus.
Hanks said, "Hello folks, my wife Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us." "We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else."
Australia has ample tests available for the Covid 19 virus and if you seek testing, it is provided under Australia's healthcare system that is funded by taxpayers and provided through both government-run and private healthcare providers. That makes it a hybrid system that allows people to use a government provider at a small cost, or a private provider at a significantly higher cost. Not a perfect system, but everyone has access to medical care.
So, since there are no sports results to report, I'll just say that when we are able to go out in public ourselves, I hope to be procuring my electric bicycle. Ciao.
