Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am once again up early, or late, depending upon your point of view. Actually I was asleep in the media room and then I wasn't ,until about 11:15 p.m. last night.
At any rate, the current temperature here in GH is 74° under partly cloudy skies. I had Ginger and STWD out around that time and I can confirm that the skies are indeed cloudy enough to preclude seeing most of the stars and planets that I normally view. It has been warmer and drier here than I would like, but there is also a 30% chance for showers tonight too, so I don't know what to expect. If those showers do indeed come to pass, both the fur-children and I will be glad that they were out.
Today, the NWS is forecasting a high temperature after the sun rises @ 6:17 a.m. and well before it sets @ 9:23 p.m., of 82°. Naturally, if the NWS forecast is wrong, then I'll be out there watering once again.
Yesterday, we didn't accomplish much, just the way I like it. I took an early afternoon walk with the intrepid weather-dog to The Bookman, while Mary walked with Ginger to the bank, and then I read Thursday's edition of the Grand Haven Tribune. Of course, I completed the crossword puzzle and I also read from The Plot to Destroy Democracy, by Malcolm Nance and Rob Reiner, with Mary as my audience. I find Nance's information and prognostications scary indeed.
Not much was happening in baseball yesterday. My beloved 66 - 29, 1st place in the AL East Red Sox, won a game that they should win over the 4th place in the AL East, Blue Jays, who have a record of 42 - 50, with a final score of 6 - 4. Once again, there is joy in Bean-town. The Sox and the Jays play again tonight @ 7:10 p.m.
The 40 - 55, 3rd place in the AL Central Tigers didn't lose nor win yesterday, as they were off. They play the 1st place in the AL West, 62 - 34 Astros tonight @ 8:10 p.m. The Tigers are unlikely to win even one from the Astros, but who knows.
The 52 - 38, 2nd place in the NL Central by 1.0 games Cubs, were also off yesterday. They have moved on to San Diego to face the 5th place in the NL West Padres tonight @ 10:10 p.m. Worthy of note, is that the 55 - 39, 1st place in the NL Central Milwaukee Brewers lost last night in their game against the 44 - 49, 4th place Pirates, 3 - 6. That loss gives the Brewers a scant one-game lead over the Cubs heading into tonight's games. Here's hoping that this being Friday the 13th will be bad luck for the Padres and the Brewers, but good luck for the Boys in Blue!.
The 47 - 44, 6th place in the MWL East White Caps, took another one from the visiting 7th place in the MWL West, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 4 - 3. The Caps and the Rattlers play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m. A reminder that all times shown are Eastern Daylight Time.
Lunch yesterday was some of the vegan Italian meatballs that I had just prepared. I used fresh basil from the vast gardens to make the pesto for them and also got the cooking time and temperature just right. Oops, I was sounding like Goldilocks there for a second. Mary made a cucumber salad using one of the cucumbers that we have growing just outside our door.
Dinner later was a request that I had put in for veg-a-roni. In this case, Mary did all the work, but she did use some of the grind that I had previously made from a recipe in that cookbook that Adam and Steph sent me for Father's Day. Using onions, garlic, and tomato soup, the veg-a-roni turned out great. Mary took a picture to show that the veg-a-roni recipe also produced copious left-overs, so I'll include that here.
The veg-a-roni tastes even better than most of us remember from our childhoods and no animals were harmed in the production. |
