Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 39° under rainy skies. In fact, I was out with Ginger around 3:30 a.m. and I can verify the fact that it is, indeed, raining. Same for the view out the WW. Later today, the high is forecast by the NWS to reach all the way up to 41° with a "Winter Weather Advisory" in effect until 11:00 p.m. tonight.

That means that surprise, there is a strong likelihood that the rain will be changing to snow as the day progresses with total snowfall from 1 to 4 inches with locally up to 5 inches. However, due to our location on the western shores of the "Big Lake", we may get no accumulation. Another surprise, the roads will become very slick due to the "slushy nature" of the wet snow. Possible event cancellations and scattered power outages are also possible. The Michigan DOT reminds people to adjust driving speeds based on conditions. Sadly, when I tune into the Twitter™ universe later this morning, there will many reports of crashes and other mishaps as people forget or ignore that admonition.

Otherwise, we made it safely to our book club meeting yesterday afternoon where a rousing discussion about the selected book, Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis by Timothy Egan ensued. We also learned what our next selection for the club reading will be. It is a book entitled The Scarlet Sisters: Sex Suffrage and Scandal in the Gilded Age, by Myra McPherson, a tale of two sisters with radically different views on many facets of life. My oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies that I had baked yesterday morning were a hit with all the attendees.

Afterward, we inadvertently met two other members of our club at our favorite watering hole where we continued our wide-ranging discussion about many topics over dinner. My cookies were also a hit with the staff at the favorite watering hole. All in all, a good afternoon.

We came home to find that John had managed to mostly demolish/remove the existing bathroom floor and fixtures in preparation for new tile and some new fixtures. Unfortunately, we also learned that the toilet that we purchased on Monday will have to be returned/exchanged for one that has a different rough in dimension requirement, thus requiring one or two more trips to a big-box home center. Sigh.

Other than that, not much was/is happening. Later this morning after the morning safari with the fur-children, we plan to hunker down and read, work a jigsaw and/or crossword puzzle, do some "Tunisian Crocheting", eat up the leftovers that we should have eaten yesterday and await John's rearrival to continue work on the bathroom. As previously noted, this will be a multi-day endeavor that will carry into next week.

Since we have a downstairs bathroom, it is more of an inconvenience than anything else. Mary chose to sleep downstairs due to that fact. I may choose to join her with the fur-children for the next several nights.

The sun will rise @ 7:17 a.m. and set @ 8:17 p.m., 13 hours later. Ciao.
