Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."

It appears that it actually is a good morning, as the current temperature is 38° as shown by both of my sources. Today's high is expected to be 49° and then we'll see several days of the mid-50s, a few in the upper 40s, and then back into the 50s and above for the balance of spring. Best of all gentle readers, the Major League™ baseball season begins today, and that's not an April Fools joke.

The Tigers open against the Marlins @ 12:05 p.m. and my beloved Red Sox open against the Nationals @ 2:00 p.m. Tomorrow night, Sunday, the 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs open in St. Louis @ 8:35 p.m. Of course all the games are subject to the vagaries of the weather here in the midwest and across the country. You'll pardon me for inserting this clip posted on YouTube from the movie, Field of Dreams, when in a speech about baseball, James Earl Jones helps me make my point about baseball being life.

But I intentionally digress. Yesterday was a great day here at the manse of the PE. I got started on the refinishing of the cabinets in the bathroom. With the exception of a scratch on my arm that I picked up along the way, I made significant progress. I got all the doors of the cabinets sanded and stained along with the doors to the bathroom closet. I am waiting for later this morning to stain the cabinet front itself. Once that dries for eight hours, I can apply the first coat of satin sealer to both the cabinet front and to the doors which are now in the man-cave. Looking good so far.

Elsewhere, Mary is packed for her trip to the big city of Chicago for Yarn Con after cursing the yarn she is taking to the gathering. Apparently, although this is supposed to be premium yarn, it is riddled with knots and inconsistencies that make working with this yarn a pain., or at least so I was told numerous times.

I placed a few more pieces in my jigsaw puzzle before we went out to the store for a few additional items for Mary's trip. That took us to the north end of GH and to Spring Lake. A stop at Stans there and then Papa Murphy's in GH for pizza and we were in for the night after feeding the fur-children. We had walked them earlier in the day and they were ready for dinner after a quick out. You would think that they hadn't eaten in days if you observed their behavior.

Today, as I've already noted, is set aside for baseball and that cabinet refinishing. I'll be reading more of the book for our book club, playing with the girls and placing pieces in my jigsaw puzzle. The fur-children and I will be struggling to survive in Mary's absence, but somehow I believe that we have the fortitude to make it through, albeit in a weakened state and we won't succumb to hunger.

The sun will rise today @ 7:26 a.m. and set later @ 8:11 p.m. Ciao.
