Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:00 a.m. in "The City."
I am going to keep this one short, because I last blogged at about 2:00 p.m. yesterday. The day got better as time progressed yesterday afternoon. Mary finished her work and so we traveled to our favorite watering hole for some adult libations and a bean burrito. We had hoped to watch the Cubs game there, but it wasn't part of their package. Oh well, the best laid plans. By that time in the day, the icy conditions had given way to a steady rain that has since passed.
As of now, the temperature outside the WW is 44° that feels like 36° as we work our way inexorably down to today's high of 43°. As the week progresses, the daily high temperatures are forecast by the NWS to continue their rise to the high on Saturday of 61°. It won't be until late Wednesday when the clouds give way and we see the sun, but then it will be mostly or all sunny every day.
Meanwhile back to the sport's report, the boys in blue made it five of six on their just ended road trip with a 7 - 3 win over the D'Backs. That means that the Cubs had a very successful road trip as they approach their home opener tonight leading the National League Central Division with a 5 - 1 record. Jake Arrieta pitched well and also hit a homerun. Here is a picture to warm the hearts of Cubs' fans everywhere. This photo was taken by the staff of Yahoo Sports.
The Tigers succumbed to the weather in Detroit. My beloved Red Sox fell to the Blue Jays 0 - 3. They are now beginning to look like the team that most pundits predicted during spring training, with a record of 3 - 2 in the AL East.
In other sports news, Jordan Spieth fell apart in Augusta and lost to Englishman Danny Willett, who went on to win with a five under par score. Spieth fell apart in his final two rounds with bogeys, and watery graves for some of his shots. He went from five under to a loss in the span of 24 hours.
Today, I have to walk STWD over to her beauty appointment and get her the works. Spring is always a time for her to get a pawdicure and a dethatching along with the many other things that she forgives me. I just can't do anything wrong to her as long as I don't really do any lasting damage, except to her pride.
Later we'll go to those chiropractor's appointments and that looks like enough until the Cubs game later this evening. That assumes that the weather in Chicago allows them to get the game in, with a high temperature predicted to be 49° that will fall to 33° later this evening. There is no rain in that forecast from the NWS, but Brrrrr!
I plan to do some reading and little else after the morning safari with the intrepid one to the groomer and before the chiropractor's appointments. Mary wil have to work. I have to give my ailing thumb a chance to rest as I played with the girls for an extended time yesterday afternoon.
Mary will find her way to the kitchen to continue the bread making process along with working.
The sun will rise at 7:09 a.m. and set at 8:23 p.m. Ciao.
