Good afternoon GH. It is just after 12:30 p.m. in "The City." Our current outdoor temperature, and also that of my office due to the window being open, is reportedly 68°. Let's just say that it is lovely both inside and out. If you consult several other sources, the temperature was not supposed to exceed 64° and is already 71°. We always said that in Chicago, if you didn't like the weather, just wait a minute. However here, none of the sources ever agree. I know we are "near the lake," but this is a bit too much variation for me.

Speaking of Chicago, in a tangential way, I had my dentist appointment at 10:00 a.m. this morning. I was in and out in 20 minutes. That meant that it was 10:25 a.m. when I hit the streets of downtown GH. None of the fast food restaurants were open yet, so I opted to walk over to the place that Adam said served a genuine Chicago beef sandwich, one dipped in juice. I ordered one and it was everything that I'd hoped for and desired, and more. Thanks Adam.

Our guests departed this morning about 9:00 a.m. We had a great couple of days and they got to see the sights and meet Sally. They also got to sample one of our truly unique GH foods, a hot dog on a stick with batter. Not a corn dog mind you, but better. Since one of our guests shares a birthday with me, they may return around that time to help celebrate a truly great day here in GH.

Now that I am back, I will be starting some laundry and retiring to the "Bone Zone" with Sugar the Weather Dog. I'll take a book and listen to the laundry machines run so that I can tend to them. I'll also take our "new" radio so that I can listen to the oldies. Sugar will only require that I don't bother her and her bone. That should be easy.

In sports, the boys in blue defeated the Yankees by a score of 6 - 1 in a gem that was being rained on. The Tigers fell to the Indians 2- 6 yesterday, but they are leading this afternoon's game 4 - 1 in the bottom of the first.  My beloved Red Sox fell to the Blue Jays 4 - 7. I am worried. The Caps eked out a win over the South Bend Silverhawks, 7 - 6 yesterday and are leading the game this afternoon against that same team, 2 - 0 in the bottom of the fifth.

I didn't hear the southbound train last night I did hear the northbound run, but I was too sleepy and didn't get up to look at 3:15 a.m.

The sun rose this morning at 6:14 a.m. and will set this evening at 9:06 p.m. No rain in the forecast through at least next Sunday, but as I noted earlier, the forecasts here are not reliable. I doubt that the temperature forecasts are any more accurate than the snow forecasts were last winter.

Ciao.
