Good morning GH. It is just past 12:00 AM in "The City." The current temperature is 17° as we head for a high of 24°. By Friday, we'll be having rain showers in the afternoon with a high temperature of 36°. That's after partly cloudy skies in the morning. Saturday, will be much the same, with a high of 38° and a combination of rain/snow showers.
I slept in this morning, most likely due to my insomnia. More on that later. I am certain that I wouldn't be up now if my shoulder hadn't been aching. But since I had my P/T appointment yesterday with another one tomorrow, that's to be expected. I asked my therapist if I was doing well. He told me that with the way things are going, once I get the green-light from the doctor, we can be more aggressive with the exercises. No pain no gain, it's been said. However, I could do without the pain.
While I was at the P/T appointment, Mary went to the grocery. She was on a power shopping trip and got most of the things that she set out to buy. However, she said that the parking lot was not well plowed, and that made moving the cart to the car difficult at best. Her neck has been aching, I think from too much time at the computer, so picking up the cart to get over the ruts etc., was a chore. Fortunately, a man helped her move it. I feel as though I am basically like an albatross these days.
We had dinner out at our favorite watering hole. I changed things up and had Sloppy Joes with fries. I wanted something to put ketchup on, and the fries filled the bill. Mary had her Wednesday usual, cheese and onion enchiladas. Some beer, some fries, then home. I was ready for a good night's sleep. Unfortunately, as I noted earlier, I am up now. I think some of the insomnia stems from sleeping on my back, which I have never done and which I used to think I couldn't. However to paraphrase Neal Page, "I spent the day with Del Griffith, I can handle anything."
Today, editing and reading, not necessarily in that order. I'll probably sleep in my chair during the day, because this night-owl phase of my life seems to demand it. That's the insomnia I was referencing earlier. I wish that I could find an alternative to this schedule, but since I can't play my guitars in the night, even if I could play right now, I don't have that as a relaxer.
That looks like about enough for yesterday and today. The northbound train went by last night, and the first southbound train today just went by. The usual assortment of twin locomotives, box cars, and covered hopper cars. For those who noticed, another train derailed just north of the border near Maine, and sent plumes of oil smoke into the sky. Apparently last year, only a fraction of the oil transported today was being shipped by rail. Now more oil shipments equals more chance for wrecks. It is likely that more oil will be shipped in 2014.
Sunrise will be at 8:16 AM then it all starts again. Tea time, Cheerios, reading, a change of pace with editing, and television. The Sun will set at 5:28 PM and I can begin anew. I'm not complaining, well maybe a little, but this has probably been the most boring winter of my life. No man-cave, no guitar, no cooking, no walking with Sugar the Weather Dog, zip, nil, etc. Ciao.
