Good early morning GH. It is just past 2:00 AM in "The City," and the temperature is 14° as we head for today's high of 17°. This being New Year's Day, the light snow that fell earlier is mostly over, but there is a chance of additional snow in the forecast. We had to go to P/T again on Monday, so we had to get the driveway cleared, again. On New Year's Eves gone by, Mary and I would have been out on the town. But, with my recent surgery and my advancing age, we stayed in this year. Truth be told, with the snow covered streets, I don't mind having stayed in. In fact, we celebrated New Year's Day earlier, when it happened in Paris, France.

Speaking of P/T, the therapist says that my range of motion is good. He suggests that I may go down to once a week until my shoulder is more fully healed and then get more aggressive with isometric exercises and the like. It is not about the cost, just that he doesn't feel that coming twice per week is necessary until I am more healed. We will discuss that on Friday when I see him again.  I have to see the doctor again in two weeks, so the two things may coincide.

Monday was relatively quiet otherwise.  We had a piece of banana nut bread for breakfast and then ate lunch at the hospital cafe. That may sound odd, but as Mary discovered during my surgery session, the cafe has a terrific salad bar. Low cost, a large selection of items, with each item labeled as to its health qualities. What's not to like? We have tried in vain to find a good salad bar around here, yet it turns out that the hospital has the best we have found. Go figure.

Mary did some work earlier in the day while I watched television. Sugar the Weather Dog was in her regular spot on the couch. Mary was going to make dinner, but she opted to go out for an early supper. I am told that she will cook that recipe today, after she is done working. I found the recipe the other day and she liked how it sounded, so it should be good. The recipe involves some chopping and cooking to specification, so for Mary that is a good thing.
For Adam, I just watched the car show based in Las Vegas, during which they rebuilt a VW bus. The original 40 horsepower engine was replaced with an over 200 horsepower engine to go with the updated suspension, brakes, new paint and interior. The bus is now a hot rod and a real grocery-getter. A guy ponied up 40 grand for the privilege of owning her. What's not to like?
Today is my usual day; nowhere to go and all day to get there. Mary has to work on her latest project. Since she "goofed off" on Monday and Tuesday, she now has to put her nose to the grindstone. I will mostly be fending for myself today. It will be hard, but sometimes a man has to suck it up or perish.

No trains on a holiday, so nothing to report there

In sports, the Red Wings played outdoors at Comerica Park and defeated the Maple Leafs. Later today the MSU Spartans will be trying to defeat the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl. As a Spartan fan, you know where I will be at 5:00 PM. Before that, I may devote some of my precious time to watching the Rose Parade at 11:00 AM.

That's all folks. Tea time will happen later this morning after the Sun rises at 8:16 AM. That same Sun will set at 5:21 PM. Ciao.
