Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and
across the world. It is just after 3:00 a.m. in "The City."
Our current temperature is 57° under clear skies. Our overnight low will be 55°. Today will be sunny with an
afternoon high temperature of
77°. The sun will rise today @ 7:00 a.m. and will set later tonight @ 8:33 p.m.
Baseball news yesterday was not great if you are Cubs fan. Jon Lester, 10
- 9, apparently had no idea how to get any Nats player out, as the Cubs lost, 3 - 9. The Cubs fell back into 2nd place in the highly-competitive NL Central, 1/2 game behind the 1st place Cardinals. This was a "Chance" for Cubs' manager Joe Maddon to rest some of his everyday players for upcoming games. The Cubs once again meet the Nats at "The
Friendly Confines" today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT, when Jose Quintana, 11 - 7, makes
the start.
My beloved, 69 - 61, only good enough for 3rd place in the AL East Red Sox, were powered by two home-runs and seven RBIs from J. D. Martinez, as they crushed the 59 - 88, 4th place in the NL West Padres last night, 11 - 0. Eduardo Rodriguez got his 15th win against only five losses for the Sox. Nathan Eovaldi, 1 - 0, goes tonight for the Sox @ 8:40 p.m.
The 39 - 87, 5th place in the AL Central Tigers, used great pitching by rookie Drew VerHagen, 4 - 2, and a Grand-Slam home-run off the bat of Ronnie "El Felino" Rodriguez, his first, to put the 77 - 51, 1st place in the AL Central Twins away, 9 - 6. The Tigers and the Twins play again tonight @ 7:10 p.m.
Our own, 44 - 85, eighth out of eight teams in the MWL East WhiteCaps, stole a game from the 76 - 51, 3rd place in the MWL East Great Lakes Loons last night in Midland, MI, 1 - 0. The Caps are home tonight to play the Ft. Wayne, IN TinCaps in a game that commences @ 7:05 p.m.
Elsewhere in life, I made another of my someday famous stir-fry lunches yesterday. Then I went outside to water the vast-gardens and wash the front-porch and furniture which always get very dusty from the traffic that goes by on a daily basis. I made sure to eliminate any traces of spiders so that both Mary and I could enjoy the porch and the moderate temperatures. I also used a vinegar solution to attempt to kill the weeds in the center of our shared driveway.
Somewhere in all of that, I also used the line-trimmer to beat-back the grass along the manse and the vines that are trying to overwhelm the vast-gardens too. That may explain why I was too tired to walk to our favorite watering hole and so I made Mary drive.
We came home to watch some news of the day, mostly scary, and then I went upstairs to fall asleep. I think that Mary stayed down to watch yet another apocalyptic movie, this one about the end of the world.
Today, I am going to take it easy and do some reading and art activities. Mary will continue to make excellent cross-stitching progress on my new kitchen apron. Ciao.
