Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City."
Our current temperature is 68° under partly-cloudy skies. The NWS is forecasting today's high to reach 81°, also under partly-cloudy skies with 71% humidity, albeit with no precipitation in that forecast. The sun will rise today @ 6:55 a.m. and set later tonight @ 8:39 p.m.

We went walkabout yesterday afternoon with Ginger. We made it to the waterfront after passing through downtown GH. Ginger was well behaved and received many pets and a treat at her favorite store The Cooks Store on Washington. We sat on the waterfront and read part of that NY Times series on the 1619 Project. So far it is fascinating and Mary and I believe that it will take us several days to get through the entire piece.

Naturally, I took along our camera so that I could get some pix. I'll add some of those now.

Grand Haven is certainly a city with fountains, like this one in Central Park.

And this one located between the Loutit Library and the Community Center.

And the dormant in the daytime Musical Fountain on Dewey Hill.
When you walk down Washington you see a lot of dogs, some of them are shop dogs like this one in the widow of one of the downtown salons.

This little "Doggy in the window", looks like Ginger and I believe that he belongs to the salon's owner.
You can't walk through the downtown without seeing people on skateboards.

Although taken many blocks apart, I believe that this was the same guy,

Seen crossing Harbor Drive near the waterfront.
Once on the waterfront, we saw a large number of watercraft, some large and some small.

Cruising in style.

Not as large, but still enjoyable, I'm sure.
I often reference the deck at the Kirby House Restaurant located at Harbor and Washington, where we have taken many pix. Here is that deck as seen from Harbor Drive. Looks inviting, doesn't it?

Breathtaking views of the waterfront!
As we walked, I took some pix that were both whimsical and curious in nature.

Not rare, but colorful.

"Old Glory" waving from a "Secluded Location" downtown.

We simply have no idea why these "Hula Hoops"™ were abandoned on the steps of a closed store downtown.
A beautifully restored mid-sixties Mustang cruising the "Mean Streets."
But, I must move along now.

We had a few errands to run and so that meant that we had to return home and get on with our day. We stopped at that nearby big-box home improvement center, the local grocery store, that big-box arts and crafts store, the Village Baker, and Stan's. It was a busy day, but we got everything done we had planned.

Baseball news yesterday was limited, as the Cubs don't play until tonight against the Giants @ 8:05 p.m. EDT. The Cubs are now 1/2 game in back of the Cardinals in the NL Central.

My beloved Red Sox are still in 3rd place in the AL East. Unfortunately or fortunately, the Sox received the news about Chris Sales' inflamed elbow. He won't need Tommy John Surgery, but he is likely done for this season, as he has been told to do no throwing for at least six weeks. That means that his spot in the rotation will be filled by a pitcher TBD for the foreseeable future and beyond for  tonight's game against the Phillies @ 7:10 p.m. and future games.

The Tigers are also done for the season, but they "Played with spirit and made some noise" against the Astros last night. Two players hit home-runs, but the Tigers ultimately lost the game, 4 - 5. Tonight's game against the Astros will feature rookie pitcher Shane Turnbull, 3 - 11, pitching against the Astros Anabel Sanchez, 5 - 14.

The West Michigan WhiteCaps are still in 8th place in the MWL East, but they defeated the 5th place Lake County, OH Captains last night, 3 - 2. The Caps and the Captains play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.

Today, I must water the planters on the front porch of the manse, but that should be enough following our rain storm on Sunday. Otherwise, I have plans to continue retirement.

Oops, I nearly forgot. We have the service-person coming from City Glass and Mirror coming this afternoon to repair that cracked front window. We made an executive decision the other day that my time and my yak were worth having them to do the entire job rather than my taking out and then reinstalling the window after it had been re-glazed. Ciao.
