Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and
across the world. It is just after 5:00 a.m. in "The City."
Our current temperature is 56° under partly-cloudy skies. While it is a dark night, it is not a dark and stormy night, based upon my observation out the WW. Our overnight low will be 55°. Today will be sunny with an afternoon high temperature of
74°. The sun will rise today @ 6:59 a.m. and
it will set later tonight @ 8:34 p.m.
Baseball news yesterday was great if you are Cubs fan. Kyle Hendricks, 9 - 9, pitched a gem as the 69 - 58, 1st place in the NL East Cubs, swept the 63 - 65, 3rd place in the NL West Giants, 1 - 0. This was the 5th straight win for the surging Cubs! The Cubs welcome the Nats to "The Friendly Confines" today @ 2:20 p.m. EDT, when Jon Lester, 10 - 8, makes the start.
My beloved, but still fading 61 - 56, 3rd place in the AL East Red Sox, won that suspended game over the 41 - 75, 4th place in the AL Central Royals, 5 - 4 in 10 innings. The Sox hit the road tonight for a 10:10 p.m. game against the 59 - 67 4th place in the NL West Padres, when Eduardo Rodriguez, 14 - 5, gets the start for the beloved.
The 38 - 87, 5th place in the AL Central Tigers, lost yet again to the 82 - 47, 1st place in the AL West Astros, 3 - 6, in spite of three home runs by the Tigers. Starting and losing pitcher, Jordan Zimmerman, 1 - 9, took the loss.for the Tigers. The Tigers move on to Minneapolis for tonight's game against the 77 - 50, 1st place Twins @ 8:10 p.m. when Drew VerHagen, 3 - 2, makes the start.
The 43 - 85, 8th place in the MWL East WhiteCaps lost one to the 76 - 50, 3d place Great Lakes Loons, 2 - 7. The Caps and the Loons play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.
Now on to what turned out to be a great evening that followed a great day. Last evening, Mary and I went to Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake to see
Scott Mulvahill and his back-up band. We were totally blown away! Scott, on upright bass, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and lead vocals, delivered a performance like none we have ever seen before. I am not a videographer, so I took lots of still pix with my Olympus DSLR camera and a telephoto lens.

Just before the show began. |
|
Scott and Jesse getting down! |
|
Scott without his back-up band. |
|
I liked the effect of Scott in reflection. |
|
Scott was equally adept on acoustic guitar and his instrument of choice, the upright bass. |
|
Here, he and Jesse on electric guitar and Scott on electric bass, were jamming hard to the delight of the audience. |
|
Although he mostly picked the bass, Scott was excellent with the bow too. We never knew that an upright bass could be played with such skill. Scott started with the bass @ age 14, and studied it in college. |
|
Jesse and Scott moved away from the microphones and used just the outstanding acoustics of the hall @ Seven Steps Up. |
|
Ross soloed on the drum kit with great skill! |
I wish you could have been there! No picture nor video could ever do justice to the live experience of seeing these performers play.
I rode my bike on several errands yesterday. The hardware/building supply store and the grocery store were at opposite ends of Ferry Street, but I was able to find my way while Mary stitched @ home. She had gone upstairs and so I was greeted by the fur-children upon my return.
Earlier, I made another batch of my vegan Italian meatballs which were incorporated into lunch by Mary. Oh, we collectively did some indoor chores too.
Today, maybe some watering of the vast gardens and more reading from our shared non-fiction book. Ciao.
