The current temperature is 64° under cloudy skies. Surprise, the NWS forecast that I use on my notebook, tells me that there is a 90% chance for rain. However, a look out the WW indicates that it is actually raining, and that's with a 100% visual certainty. Our high today is forecast to be 75°, under partly-cloudy skies. The sun will rise @ 6:50 a.m. and set later @ 8:47 p.m.
I had planned to include the following pic in yesterday's blog, but I couldn't find it when I wanted it, so I'll just place it below to complete my set of canine pix from Tuesdays in the Park.
This big puppy comes to every Tuesday in the Park concert. |
Baseball news from yesterday's games was not bad, but it wasn't good either. The 64 - 56, now tied for 1st place in the NL Central Cubs, fell into a statistical tie with the 63 - 55 Cardinals. The Cubs and Cole Hamels, 6 - 4, lost big time to the 62 -58 3rd place in the NL East Phillies, 1 - 11. I don't know if there is hope on the horizon, as Yu Darvish, 4 - 6, starts tonight's game @ 7:05 p.m. Batten down the hatches Cubs fans.
My beloved, 64 - 59, 3rd place in the AL East Red Sox, used an intentional walk to red-hot Rafael Devers and a three-run homer off the bat of the X-Man, Xander Bogaerts, to trounce the 72 - 49, 2nd place in the AL Central Indians, 5 - 1. Nathan Eovaldi, 1 - 0, got the win for the beloved. The Sox send Rick Porcello, 10 - 9, to the mound for a 7:10 p.m. start against the 39 - 82, last place in the AL East Orioles tonight.
The 36 - 81, last place in the AL Central Tigers, took a game from the 49 - 72. last place in the AL West Mariners last night, 3 - 2, as Edwin Jackson got the win. The Tigers and the Mariners play again today @ 1:10 p.m. in Comerica Park when Spencer Turnbull, 3 - 10, takes his turn for the Tigers.
The West Michigan WhiteCaps. @ 38 - 82, lost to the 74 - 44 Great Lakes Loons last night at the 5th/Third Ballpark, 3 - 4. They Caps and the Loons play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.
There is good news for the Tigers, as their AA Minor-League affiliate, the Erie, PA SeaWolves, are heading to the Eastern League's West Division playoffs this year. The SeaWolves have several of the Tigers' top pitching prospects on their roster, so perhaps the 2021 Tigers' season should be a good one.
Elsewhere in the news, my yak injection yesterday seems to have provided some significant relief from my yak pain and if all goes well, I may be able to take advantage of another procedure that will give me longer term relief. I'll know in a couple of weeks.
As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, we took our camera along for the ride to my appointment. Sadly, it appears that I lost the lens cap for my telephoto lens along the way, so a visit to Justin at the Camera Store in Muskegon is now on our agenda.
However, I took some pix while we were stopped and while we were in motion between Muskegon and GH. I'll include a select few now.
Before we left, I took this pic of a perfect Roma tomato. |
A hidden zucchini, looking good! |
How I felt about my now completed appointment. |
Like these sculpted birds on the GH waterfront, I was flying high. |
I had a request from one of my loyal readers to include some pix of alternative, non-motorized forms of transportation in GH, so here is one of those. |
Pedestrian travel is another method popular in GH |
As are bicycles and trailers. |
And paddle-boards too. |
I hope to make some other things while the oven is on too. Waste not, want not, when it comes to natural gas.
Since it rained, I won't have to water today and that's all good.
Speaking of the rain, we were in the media room watching the latest news last night, when Mary told me it had started to rain according to her proven superior weather app. So, just before 11:00 p.m., I quickly rounded up the fur-children and made them take their final trip to the back-forty. They should be good until late tomorrow morning if all goes well. Between Mary's doctor's appointment and mine, we have been forced to get up at a very non-retirement hour for two days. That stops today! Ciao.
