Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 7:00 p.m. in "The City.
I know I am getting a late start on this blog, but sometimes, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
We have a current temperature of 69° under cloudy skies after a rain-filled morning. That was all good for me, as I didn't have to water anything on the vast PE. A slight weather update as of 8:15 p.m. The NWS in Gr issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Ottawa, County and the storm has hit us big-time. We have strong winds, with steady 35 mph, and 50 mph gusts along with downed tree limbs, heavy rains, lightning, thunder, and hail. All of this activity has driven STWD to her hide-e-hole. The NWS is also forecasting that the storm should over by 9:00 p.m. A look out the WW shows that the storm is abating and the sky is lightening up.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the NWS is forecasting a high temperature of 62° under cloudy skies with only a 20% chance of showers. However, Friday, the NWS is forecasting a 100% chance for showers with a high of only 53°! Brrr! The sun will rise tomorrow @ 6:26 a.m. and set later @ 8:56 p.m.
I have a double trainspotting report for today, as the first passage of MMRR EMD GP-38-2 locomotive @ 2025 was seen by Ginger and yours truly, @ 8:51 a.m. heading south on the RSTL towing one CHC, and one DBTC. Later, @ 12:15 p.m., we spotted that same locomotive heading north towing six CHCs, two DBTCs, and one GTC. I did a little research and I learned that the letters HESR on the cab of # 2025, may stand for the Huron and Eastern Railway. I'm not sure what that means in relation to the Mid-Michigan Railroad. Perhaps another acquisition by the MMRR?
Since we are taking some time off from indexing for the balance of May, we found time to go to the stone yard near Holland and pick up some flagstone for our garden and also stop at the local Big-Box Home Center, to procure another 2 x 4 for the edging of that same garden.
A quick stop @ JWs for adult libations and then home to feed the fur-children whom we had walked earlier in the day.
Yesterday, the 19 - 15 Cubs defeated the 13 - 23 Marlins, 13 - 4. However, the Cubs still languish in 4th place in the NL Central. The Cubs are off today before welcoming that other team from Chicago @ 2:10 p.m. EDT.
My beloved 25 - 10 Red Sox lost to the 25 - 10 Yankees last night, 2 - 3. Those two teams meet again tonight in Yankee Stadium @ 7:05 p.m., with 5 - 0 Rick Porcello taking the mound for the Sox.
The 15 - 21 Tigers fell to the also 15 - 21 Texas Rangers, 4 - 5 in 10 innings. The Tigers are off today before playing the Mariners @ 7:05 p.m. Friday night.
The 18 - 14 Caps defeated the Clinton, IA Lumberkings today 8 - 5, but they are still in 4th place in the MWL East. The Caps and the Burlington, IA Bees play tomorrow @ 7:05 p.m.
We have nothing planned for tomorrow and that's fine with me. We may get into the vast gardens of the PE tomorrow and then I'll also do some indoor chores. Once again, I'll do a little at a time so as not to strain my yak. Ciao.
