Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, it is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City."
Well, that rain that was in the forecast yesterday and early this morning arrived about 8:00 p.m. last might with a vengeance. Mary and Ginger had been out on the deck enjoying the spring weather and I joined them for about three minutes before the front moved in and dumped some serious precipitation on West Michigan. By then, STWD had been in hiding for quite a while. In spite of the warmer temperature right now, 55°, and the 100% chance of T-storms, there is no rain nor T-storms occurring. Later today, after the sun rises @ 6:35 a.m. and long before it sets @ 8:48 p.m., the NWS is forecasting additional storms. We shall see.
Baseball was not very good to the 16 - 12 Cubs yesterday, in spite of a statement by Cubs' manager Joe Maddon to the contrary, the Cubs are not getting quality at bats. 130 million dollar pitcher Yu Darvish, once again failed to make it past the 5th inning and his relievers were no more effective. The Cubs lost to the 17 - 15 Rockies, 2 - 11. They now 3rd place Cubs are mercifully off today before traveling to St. Louis to meet the 2nd place Cardinals Friday night @ 7:15 p.m. The Cubs tumbled from first to third place in the NL Central, and are now 1.0 games in back of the Cardinals.
My beloved 22 - 8 Red edged the 8 - 22 Royals, 5 - 4, but they should be winning games over weaker opponents like the Royals with ease. Oh well, I'll take the win. The Sox are atop the AL East with a 2.0 game lead over the Yankees as the Sox travel to Texas to meet the 12 - 20 the Rangers @ 8:05 p.m. tonight. This series should not be a struggle for the Sox, but as I noted, they are not doing well against weaker teams lately.
The 13 - 16 Tigers took extra innings yesterday, but they edged the 13 - 16 Rays, 3 - 2. That win leaves the sub .500 Tigers in 2nd place in the AL Central, 3.0 games behind the Indians. The Tigers travel to Kansas City to face the Royals tonight @ 7:15 p.m.
The 15 - 10 Caps are still in 2nd place in the MWL East, 1.5 games in back of the Lansing Lugnuts. The Caps defeated the 11 - 12 Peoria Chiefs yesterday, 5 - 3. The Caps and the Chiefs play again tonight @ 7:35. p.m.
Our book club meeting went well yesterday and everyone enjoyed my chocolate-chip cookies. As the Book Czar for June, Mary has us reading a biography of someone who died before 2000 CE. I think I am going to read a biography of automotive pioneer, Preston Tucker.
We walked to the meeting and then to our favorite watering hole where the balance of my cookies were also a hit. All together, I managed over 6,000 steps yesterday. Also yesterday, I managed to get in a walk with the intrepid weather dog to The Bookman. Ginger and Mary took a separate walk at what I heard, was a quick pace.
Today, Mary has to index and I have to finish highlighting. Ciao.
