Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:00 a.m. in "The City."

No trainspotting, no precipitation, no pictures to share should make for a shortened blog.

We have a current temperature of 52° as we drop towards the overnight low of 47°, according to the NWS, which is also forecasting a high for today of 66° under mostly cloudy skies. That's quite a contrast with yesterday's high of 73° under sunny skies. Still, that was enough to allow me to choose my summer uniform and get out in the gardens of the vast PE.

Yesterday, while Mary was indexing, I over-seeded the vast lawns in the back and planted one rose and four coleus plants. I confess, I also dragged the hose reel to the deck area and connected it to the faucet, but I didn't lift it, I just dragged it. Today, I'll plant two more roses, leaving two more for the next day. I am learning how to not overdo it. I also did those aforementioned indoor chores too.

Somewhere in there, we took the girls for a walk to The Bookman to pick up STWD's daily biscuit and the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune. Mary and Ginger walked a bit farther, since STWD is an elderly lady with limited stamina, while Ginger is like the Energizer Bunny™, possessed of abundant energy that begs to be burned.

Once Mary was done indexing the "Chunks" of the index, we traveled to the mall to get a new battery for my work watch.

Sadly, we also stayed too long at Stan's in Springlake on the way home, just long enough to watch the 16 - 14, 3rd place in the NL Central Cubs and their bullpen implode and squander a two run lead as they ended up losing the game to the 1st place 19 - 12 Cardinals, 6 - 8 in 10 innings. That loss finds the Cubs 2.5 games in back of the Cardinals. Oh well, the Cubs and the Cardinals play tonight @ 7:05 p.m.

I nearly forgot to mention that we were home in time to watch the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby™. The rains were still falling when the horses left the gate after three inches had already fallen. That rain changed the odds for many of the horses, including my choice, My Boy Jack, who started the day @ 30 - 1 odds and raced @ 6 - 1 odds, due to the muddy conditions. Mary's choice, Good Magic, also had improved odds by race time. Sadly, I think that my horse is still looking for the finish line and Mary's choice didn't win either. The race was won by favorite, Justify.

My beloved 24 - 9 1st place in the AL East Red Sox struggled to beat the 13 - 22 Rangers in TX, 6 - 5. I know a win is a win, but the Sox are better than that. Those two teams play again today @ 3:05 p.m.

The 14 - 18 in the AL Central Tigers also struggled to beat the 10 - 23 Royals, 3 - 2. Once again, the aging Miguel "Miggy" Cabrera is on the 10-day DL with a strained right hamstring. Miggy is likely to end his great career in Detroit as he has a big contract to go with his increasing injury issues, that limit his trade-ability. He should be able to join the rare 500 home run and 3,000 hits club in a Tiger's uniform. I love the guy, but sadly, he is not really an everyday player any longer. The Tigers and the Royals play again today @ 2:15 p.m.

The 16 - 12 in the MWL East Caps, fell to 4th place in their division, as they lost to the 1st place in the MWL West Cedar Rapids Kernels yesterday, 6 - 7. I know this is "A" ball, so that is the way the proverbial ball sometimes bounces. The Caps and the Kernels close out their series today @ 3:05 p.m.

Since I am done with my indoor chores, and my yard-work should not occupy too much of my time today, I'll get back to reading, playing with the girls, and just relaxing. Mary will continue indexing. Ciao.
