Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:45 a.m. in "The City."
I got up about 60 minutes ago and tried to get Ginger to go out. I thought that since STWD was sleeping next to the bed, that the weather had changed. Ginger was eager when we got downstairs, that is until I opened the door and it was raining. She dug in her paws and wouldn't go. So, I"ll keep an eye on her and see if she will change her mind.
Last night, the thunder had already started and Mary got STWD to go out, but Ginger would not go. That's why I have to keep an eye on her. We'd had them both groomed yesterday, but Ginger isn't the intrepid weather dog, and so she has to go out more than once in every 24 hours.
Speaking of the weather, the rain continues to fall. The thunder crashed about 8:30 last night, sending STWD to her Hide-e-Hole right after she went out. Right now, the electrical storms have seemingly ended, but alas, the rains have not. Good for the lawns of the vast PE, but not conducive to getting the fur-children outside. We have a current temperature of 60° as we drop to the overnight low of 54° before rebounding to today's high of 59° with showers in the morning hours and then partly cloudy skies for the balance of the day. Saturday, there is no precipitation in the forecast and the high temperature will be 70° under sunny skies.
Baseball was a disaster yesterday. Fortunately, the 16 - 12 Cubs had the day off before tonight's game @ the 17 - 12 St. Louis Cardinals @ 8:15 p.m. The Cubs are .5 games in back of the Cardinals and 1.0 games in back of the Brewers in the NL Central.
My beloved 22 - 9 Red Sox looked awful last night against the 13 - 20 Texas Rangers, as the Sox lost the game, 5 - 11. David Price imploded and the game quickly got out of hand. The Sox remain in first place in the AL East, a scant one game ahead of the Yankees. Alex Cora's squad takes the field again tonight @ 8:05 p.m. against those same Rangers.
The 13 - 17 Tigers couldn't do a thing against the 9 - 22 Royals as the Tigers lost the game, 6 - 10. I know this is a rebuilding year, the first of many, but the Royals are also a rebuilding team, and they are no better than the Tigers. The Tigers are still in 2nd place in the AL Central, 3. 5 games behind the "Front-Running" 17 - 14 Cleveland Indians. The Tigers take the field tonight against the Royals @ 8:15 P.M.
Not to be outdone, the 15 - 11 Caps fell to the 12 - 12 Peoria Chiefs, 5 - 10 yesterday. The Caps starting pitcher, Matt Manning, also imploded early and the Caps could not recover. The Caps now languish in 3rd place in the MWL East, 2.5 games behind the Lansing Lugnuts. The Caps travel to Cedar Rapids, IA for a night game against the Kernels @ 7:30 p.m.
We didn't get a lot done yesterday, and today we have a 10:00 am appointment downtown. Then, we have to get to work, in earnest, on the current indexing project. It is due in a scant five days! I am nearly done with my highlighting, but Mary has to get rolling.
We should be able to do some trainspotting today too. Ciao.
