Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 5:00 a.m. in "The City."
We had full-contact gardening in the gardens of the PE yesterday. It was Mother's Day, and Mary received a call from Adam before we ate brunch and then moseyed to the back-forty for a fun filled day of digging, planting, and raking. I took the spade work while Mary planted the smaller pots and planters. Our deck looks terrific with the addition of the marigolds and the gardens in the back look great with the geraniums, and other blooms.
I cut a few roots and stirred in the Dairy Doo™ before planting the potatoes, basil, and foot-traffic friendly ground cover. By the end, we were worn down and so we stopped for the day. Ginger and STWD were out with us for a short time, but I guess we bored them and they wanted to go in.
I worked on the crossword puzzle from the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune with Mary's assistance. I also took time to finish my latest novel, Innocent in Death, a murder mystery set in the year 2060 that featured Robb's female protagonist, Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas. I liked it and so I may read more by the same author, J.D. Robb, there are more than 40 novels in the series. Robb in another life, is a well-known writer of romance novels, writing under the name, Nora Roberts.
The 21 - 16, 4th place in the NL Central, Cubs, took it on the chin yesterday when that other team from Chicago defeated the Cubs, 3 - 5. The Cubs are now one game behind the first place Brewers and one-half game in back of the 2nd and third place teams, the Cardinals and the Pirates respectively. The Cubs welcome the 24 - 15, 1st in the NL East Braves, to the Friendly Confines for a 2:20 p.m. EDT game today.
My beloved, 28 - 12 tied for 1st place in-the AL East with the Yankees, who sport the same 28 - 12 record, took the rubber game of their series in Toronto, as they Sox defeated the 21 - 20 Blue Jays by a final score of 5 - 3. J.D Martinez got a home-run and three RBIs in the win. The Sox come home to Fenway Park to face the 19 - 21 in the AL West, Oakland As for a game tonight @ 7:10 p.m. when 5 - 0 pitcher Rick Porcello takes the hill.
The 17 - 22, 3rd in the AL Central, Tigers benefited from a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth as Jose Iglesias drove in the winning run for the win over the 22 - 17 3rd in the AL West Seattle Mariners. The Tigers welcome the 20 - 19 1st in the AL Central Indians to Comerica Park for a game tonight @ 7:10 p.m. As you may be able to surmise, the Al Central is a weak division.
The 19 - 16, 4th in the MWL East Caps, return to the field tonight in Ft. Wayne to face the 14 - 21 TinCaps tonight @ 7:05 p.m.
Otherwise, not much was happening yesterday. The day started out warm, but turned cooler as the day wore on. We have a current temperature of 48° under partly cloudy skies as we head for today's sunrise @ 6:22 a.m. and a forecast high temperature of 62° with a chance of scattered T-storms, before the sun sets @ 9:00 p.m. Tuesday looks much better, as the temperature should rise to 73° with only a 20% chance of showers as we await our cruise aboard the Grand Lady riverboat with our new camera.
Today, Mary will be finishing that index from HE double hockey sticks, as the immortal Radar O'Reilly oft intoned in the TV dramedy, Mash, as I do some indoor chores and other things. Ciao.
