Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City."
A current temperature of 54° that feels like 54°, is being reported by the NWS at this hour. Later today, after the sun rises @ 6:13 a.m. and before it sets later @ 9:10 p.m., the NWS is also forecasting a high of 77° under mostly clear skies. We are going to go from a high temperature yesterday of 57° to 20° higher today. Go figure.
I heard the southbound run of the train on the RSTL @ 9:17 a.m. yesterday. I can only surmise from the sound and the feel that it was a rather lengthy train. Later, @ 1:58 p.m., I espied locomotives 2025 and 2019 traversing the rails towing nine CHCs, four DBTCs, seven DWTCs, and one tank car that was so rusty that its original color was indeterminate.
Sports news yesterday was mostly good, but the 25 - 21, 4th in the NL Central Cubs, fell to the 24 - 23, 1st in the AL Central Indians, 0 - 1. Boneheaded base-running didn't help, but over the last two games, the Cubs' bats are back in the deep-freeze once again. Dare I say it, the last World Series appearance by the Cubs in 2016 took 108 years and I likely won't see another in my lifetime. Sigh. Mercifully, the Cubs are off today before they welcome the 24 - 26, 3rd in the NL West Giants to Wrigley Field Friday @ 2:20 p.m.
My beloved, 34 - 15, 1st in the AL East by 1.5 games over the Yankees, Red Sox, took a game that they should have won from the 22 - 25, 4th place in the AL East Rays, 4 - 1. The Rays and the Sox play again tonight @ 7:10 p.m.
The 21 - 28 3rd in the AL Central Tigers, ended their five game losing streak as they defeated the 21 - 24 Twins in Minnesota, 4 - 1. The Tigers are really no better or worse than the 2nd place, 21 - 24 Twins, but that's not really saying much. The Tigers are off today before they play that other team from Chicago whose current record finds them in 4th place in that weak AL Central Friday night @ 7:10 p.m.
The 26 - 19, 3rd in the MWL East, West Michigan White Caps eked out a win over the 5th place in the MWL East, 20 - 25 Ft. Wayne, IN TinCaps, 2 - 1. The Caps and the TinCaps play tonight @ 7:05 p.m.
Otherwise, not much is happening. I finished my biography of Preston Tucker for our History Book Club yesterday and started a new large-print novel in addition to reading the Grand Haven Tribune and finishing the crossword. I also did some indoor chores. Today, we have to take STWD to her doctor's appointment and visit the chiropractor. I am still not as ambulatory as I would like due to my aching yak, so that's why I am visiting the yak doctor on Friday. Ciao.
