Our fur-children were not to be denied a walkabout at the Lake Forest Cemetery this afternoon. We put them off as long as possible, but then we were off for what turned out to be an abbreviated visit. While there were not many people there, it took only a few inconsiderate people with off-leash dogs to cause us to make a hasty withdrawal.
However, Mary took along her trusty little camera and recorded some interesting pix.
The rock atop this marker was a new addition since our last visit to this area. |
As is often the case, the deer were grazing. |
We believe that a local school made these small seasonal markers for the children. |
With the leaves and markers still not under the snow. |
You can see many sections of the cemetery hidden during spring, summer, and early fall. |
We have a current temperature of 35° under cloudy skies. The NWS had predicted a 50% chance for snowfall by 11:00 p.m., but a look out my WW showed no sign of any snow here.
The temperature actually feels like 35° with only a three mph wind blowing out of the northwest. We have no alerts in the forecast at this time. The barometric pressure reading being reported by the NWS in GR is 30.01" and rising, while my own DTWS is reporting 29.52" and steady.
Tomorrow's high temperature forecast from the NWS calls for 41° and a low temperature of 39°. Our overnight low tonight is forecast to be 33°.
The sun will rise tomorrow @ 8:03 a.m. and set tomorrow evening@ 5:09 p.m.
Last night and early this morning, the train passed by. The southbound run on the RSTL occurred @ 11:31 p.m. last night. MMRR locomotives 2019 and 2170 were observed towing nine loaded CHCs, and two unloaded lumber cars.
I heard the passage of the train around 3:00 a.m. this morning, but I could only discern that it was long.
Tonight, I watched out the WW as those same locomotives passed by heading south, towing eight CHCs, and one DWTC, one DBTC, and one DGTC.
I finished the Friday crossword this afternoon before we went walkabout.
Mary created a marinade for our vegan corned beaf that will be part of tomorrows lunch. Here's hoping that it will be better than our failed vegan bacon recipe. What were supposed to be today's BL sandwiches became vegan pepperoni sandwiches with a side salad.
Our dinner was Italian vegan burgers with a side of Coleslaw.
Mary gave be a book report on the book she just finished entitled, The Mercies, by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Like many of the books she prefers, this one had a bit of a supernatural slant to it. I would not have chosen it, but she loved it.
Tomorrow, we have a drop off and a pick up at the library in the mid afternoon. Before that, more indoor chores. I am still enjoying my latest novel, The Wolf, by Lorenzo Carcaterra.
Otherwise, our day is open tomorrow. Ciao.
Update! At 2:25 a.m. December 8, 2020, I watched out the WW as MMRR locomotives 2170 and 2019 passed by heading north.
