Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation, and across the world. It is just before 5:30 a.m. in "The City."

The sun will rise this morning @ 6:16 a.m. and set later @ 9:24 p.m. Yes, my loyal readers, the days are getting shorter, albeit not cooler.

According to the NWS, the current outdoor temperature is 69° with no raindrops falling on my head..

My DTWS shows 69º on both the deck and the front porch.

The NWS is forecasting today's high to be 83º under clear skies. That's about 6º warmer than yesterday. The overnight low tonight is forecast to be 65º. We'll get a small reprieve from those oppressive high temperatures for two more days and then back into the mid 80º to lower 90º range.

The official barometric pressure is 29.82" and steady while my DTWS is showing 29.15" also steady, indicating that clear skies are in the offing.

Yesterday, Ginger got both groomed and bathed. Judging by these pix taken by our Senior Staff Photographer with her Smart Phone camera, I think our little girl looks pretty good for a couple of amateur groomers. While no animals were harmed during our efforts, Mary sustained a non-life-threatening injury to her hand when she accidentally cut more than Ginger's fur.

Sleep terrier.

Otherwise, our day was consumed with very little. Where do the hours go? Retirement can be so time-intensive and demanding. I did make some vegan hot dogs that have a great taste and texture and resemble butcher shop frankfurters more than the typical offerings by the mass producers.

We had some of those wrapped in biscuits along with a creamy cucumber salad as a side dish for dinner.

Of course, we got in another episode of Poldark

Today, a bit of home maintenance and hopefully, no watering. Our tomato plants all have fruit now as do our cucumber plants. A few more weeks and we'll be having various forms of cucumber salads with every meal. Sometime in late August, we should be enjoying homegrown tomatoes a lot too.

More reading that we never got to yesterday, more music, more crossword solving. Ciao.
