Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City."

The current temperature is 48° under mostly-cloudy skies. Today's high is forecast to reach 58° under cloudy-skies, following our overnight low of 45°. The sun will rise today @ 7:46 a.m. and set later @ 7:19 p.m.

A Small Craft Advisory will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. today until 8:00 a.m. Monday. That River Flood Warning for parts of Ottawa County, MI remains in effect until 2:00 a.m.Tuesday, October 9! Parts of Ottawa and nearby counties have been removed from that watch. However, the Grand River in Robinson Township is currently @ 13.2 feet with the flood stage set @ 13.3 feet!

With no precipitation in the forecast until later tonight, the waters will have a chance to recede, if only slightly. Our own public works crews and local residents are fighting the high waters here in GH and Spring Lake and are so far, they are holding their own. However, Harbor Island is partly underwater

I had another great day yesterday although I never got to the man-cave to finish my decorations. Instead, I was in the kitchen making another apple pie, this time with ground cinnamon instead of ground cayenne pepper like I inadvertently used in my last epic failure. Yes, that pie tasted like you think it did. I have not yet tried this pie, yet, but I anticipate that it will be much better as I double-checked my spice selections and also had my assistant pie chef check my double checking. Redundant? Perhaps, but one epic failure is enough in a lifetime. Our Senior Staff Photographer took some pix of the pie baking in progress and the finished product.

I had a great result before baking.

The finished product looks great, but so too did my epic failure.
As is often the case, I overshot on my apple peeling, so as predicted, we also have some homemade applesauce in the refrigerator.

We took a few minutes to peruse a couple of those wallpaper sample books before our fur-children were not to be denied. Once I'd rested from my kitchen activities and once Mary had returned from the Health Hutt, the "Girls" pinned themselves to the back door and we had to take them for a walk. Then we were able to get out and run a couple of errands in Spring Lake. Traffic on Beacon Blvd., US 31, was backed up in all directions due to the drawbridge having been raised. The bridge went down and traffic quickly cleared and we were on our way.

A quick aside. Does anyone else have a cord problem? Every time I go to  a drawer or cabinet to retrieve a charging cord for a phone or my camera, the cord is more tangled than it was when I put it away. Why is that? Just asking.

Today's TV viewing includes a chance to watch the Wolverines of Michigan welcome the Hawkeyes of IA to the "Big House" in Ann Arbor for a game @ 12:00 p.m. today. The 3 -1 Wolverines blew out the 2 - 2 Scarlet Knights of Rutgers last week, but the Hawkeyes are 4 - 0.

The 1 - 3 in the MAC West Huskies of NIU play @ 3:30 p.m. today versus the also 1 - 3 Cardinals of Ball State, but TV viewing is questionable.

Later, the 4 - 1 Spartans of MSU travel to "The Ohio State University" for a game against the 5 - 0 Buckeyes @ 7:30 p.m. State looked good last week against Indiana, recording a 40 - 31 win over the Hoosiers. The Buckeyes had their own blow out win over the Cornhuskers of Nebraska last week, winning, 48 - 7!

Today, I plan to let Mary drop me off at the Sims Power Plant that belongs to the Grand Haven Board of Light and Power, the GHBLP, for a chance to tour the facility one final time before it is decommissioned next year. While there, I hope to take some of my favorite type of pix, industrial. That tour is from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If all goes well, I'll share some of my better pix.

I also hope to make it to the man-cave afterwards to do more work on those decorations. So much to do, so little time. Mary has plans to make some Salsa Verde from our tomatillos while I am away.

And don't forget, that as I wrote that I'm Listening to Coast to Coast.

Ciao.
