Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 12:00 a.m. in "The City."

As you probably noticed, I never got around to blogging yesterday. I was busy with other things. But that's okay because I was able to do some reading after the morning safari with STWD and GTWD.

Mary and I walked with the fur-children to the library so that Mary could check out some books while I waited outside with the fur-children. It was cool, but not unbearable sitting on the bench at the library. It didn't take too long, and then we headed home. I was going to continue past our house and go to the Bookman with the intrepid one for the Wednesday edition of the Grand Haven Tribune and Sugar's usual treat, but the intrepid one didn't want to go. She seemed to want to go back in the house with her little sister, Ginger. Go figure.

While we were out, I heard the train whistle on the RSTL, but I did not see the passage of the train @ 10:20 a.m. I was home in the early afternoon reading when I heard that lonesome whistle blow once again, signaling the return northbound passage of the train. It didn't take long, as there was only locomotive #2057 towing one CHC and one DBTC. I think the Mid-Michigan Railroad lost money on that run. Perhaps the train in the morning was more profitable.

I did get time to add the final decorations to the porch of the manse yesterday. I took some pictures to share along with a picture of the pumpkin pie I baked on Tuesday for yesterday's book club meeting. There is a story in the pie baking too, but I think I'll save that for another time. Let's just say that when you make more pie filling than you need, you have leftovers. At any rate, here are the aforementioned pictures.

The book club attendees liked my pie. I think this was my best crust to date.

I took several pictures, but this one looked the best to me. Note the snow shovel at the ready on the porch.
That snow shovel will come in handy as the NWS is predicting six to twelve inches of snow between early this morning and into late Friday afternoon. We generally enjoy a sweet spot along the shores of the "Big Lake", Michigan, but this time the storm is expected to dump more on our area than farther inland. We had planned a trip to Chicago to see our children, Stephany and Adam,  this coming weekend, but we texted them to let them know we decided not to tempt fate. We would have to travel around the bottom of the lake through Indiana and into Illinois. However, the weather forecast looked too iffy for that plan. We'll reschedule.

Today, Mary has indexing to do, I have reading and crosswords to do and the fur-children will get a very abbreviated safari later this morning, The current temperature is 28° under cloudy skies. The snow that was supposed to begin @ 12:00 a.m. has yet to appear, however Mary says it was way cold when she took GTWD out for her final time last night. Later today after the sun rises @ 8:04 a.m. and long before it sets @ 5:09 p.m., the high temperature is forecast to rise to 33°. The snow should be falling by the time we rise later this morning. Right now, I'll just close by saying, Ciao.
