Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City." I am listening to Coast to Coast AM, with host George Noory. He and his guest, Joshua P. Warren were discussing E.T.s, UFOS, and artifacts that relate to visits by extraterrestrials. Mr. Warren has put a video of a purported UFO recorded by the TSA up on his website. You decide.

The weather in West Michigan continues to perplex. We had a sudden downpour yesterday afternoon, that the NWS warned about as it was happening. Heavy rains, damaging winds, and dark skies took the place of mostly sunny skies in the morning and gave way to similar conditions later in the day. That is one of the beauties of living in this area, like Forrest Gump noted "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."

We have a current temperature of between 66° & 68°, depending on the source. Today's forecast is calling for cloudy skies this morning with sunny skies this afternoon, That is not unlike what the forecast for yesterday called for. As of now, the high temperature is forecast to be 75°. The chance of precipitation is 10% today and nothing more until Tuesday and Wednesday. I believe I'll rely on STWD.

Yesterday was rather pedestrian. no pun intended. We took the morning safari, dropping off some books at the library, and then picked up the latest copy of the Grand Haven Tribune. Later,
Mary participated in her chat session, while I did more highlighting.  We then traveled to the local medium-box hardware and home center for some repair parts for the upstairs faucet. Mission accomplished before a stop at the Double Deuce for dinner. Then home, where I finished the faucet repairs.

I made the mistake of watching the Cubs and their 2015 Cy Young award winner, Jake Arrieta face the Pirates in Pittsburgh last night. Arrieta looked more like Gig or the recently departed Alan Young, than the namesake for whom the award that goes to the best pitcher in either the National or American Leagues. Home runs were leaving the yard the Pirates were scampering around the bases, and the Cubs looked more like the Keystone Kops than the team expected to win it all that won all those games early in the season. Even the announcers were making excuses for the lack of precise play and less than stellar pitching,

The Cubs fell to the Pirates 4 - 8, to fall to 52 - 34 in the N. L. Central, a scant 7.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Pirates and 8.0 games ahead of the Cardinals, who lost. If this is the year, it is going to be long one. Same teams tonight @ 7:15 p.m.

The Tigers also looked all too mortal. They fell to the Blue Jays, 0 - 6, to drop to 45 -  41 in the A. L. Central, but still good enough for 2nd place, 2.0 games in back of the Orioles who lost to the Angels of Anaheim. Same teams today @ 1:07 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 6 - 5. The Sox remain 2.0 games in back of the Orioles who also won, That leaves the Sox in 3rd place with a record of 47 - 38 in the A. L. East. Same teams @ 4:05 p.m. today.

The Caps are struggling. They fell @ home to the Ft. Wayne TinCaps 2 - 3. They are now in sole possession of 6th place in the Midwest League East, with a record of 6 - 8. Same teams again tonight @ 7:00 p.m.

I won't have to water today, after the torrential downpours of yesterday afternoon. I'm good with that. We will take the morning safari, pick up the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune, and then Mary needs to stop at the library to pick up a book that is on hold, I don't know if she will get to read it, but she plans to try. With her indexing schedule, pleasure reading is always an iffy proposition. She always finds time to knit in the La-Z-Boy. She finds that activity very relaxing.

I'll continue to read my novel and do more highlighting along with some indoor chores, while Mary gets to work on the index. I am finding this book about the Civil War period fascinating. Somewhere in there we'll have some meals and I'll try to watch or listen to the "Lovable Losers" the Cubs, try once again to win over the Pirates later this evening. The Cubs' starting pitcher will be Jon Lester.

STWD will lie about and provide comic relief to the day, along with her summer shedding. That shedding will require more brushing and vacuuming on my part, but I love her anyway. We didn't adopt her to be a watchdog nor perfect, just a great companion, which she is, most of the time.

The sun will rise @ 6:14 a.m.. and set @ 9:25 p.m. Ciao.
