Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City."
A current temperature of 63° per the NWS, is a pleasant experience. The fireworks went off last night without a problem and without our presence. Mary and I did enjoy the view out her office window, and of course the view of the general craziness that is GH on a holiday out the front window. That included some residential pyromania and the usual traffic jams, accompanied by the sound of sirens from the local law enforcement community. In honor of my niece, Amanda, Ooh! Aah!
But I digressed from the weather report. Today's high temperature is forecast to be 79° under cloudy skies. The forecast of T-storms on Wednesday has been changed to 30% for isolated T-storms. Same for Thursday. We are still expecting an 80% chance of T-storms on Friday. All of the foregoing is from the NWS.
Now on to the sports report. Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Whew! Can I stop worrying now? No, because one game does not a winning streak make, especially over the 30 - 54 Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs are still in 1st place in the N. L. Central with their own record of 52 - 30, following a win over the Reds, 10 - 4. Kris Bryant gave fans and Cubs'manager Joe Maddon a scare, when he collided with Albert Alnora Jr. in the outfield. Visions of an earlier season collision that took Kyle Schwarber out for the year danced through everyone's heads. But, Bryant only has a leg bruise, not a season ending knee injury like Schwarber. Same teams this afternoon.
The Tigers fell to the Indians, 3 - 5. Not really a surprise, as the Indians have an A. L. Central record of 50 - 32, 6.5 games ahead of the Tigers. Same two teams play tonight at 7:10 p.m.
My beloved Red Sox topped the Texas Rangers, 12 - 5 in an A. L. East versus A. L. West match-up. Four home runs sparked the win, and a 2nd place record of 45 - 37, just 2.5 games in back of the Orioles in the A. L. East, following the Orioles loss to the Dodgers. The Sox play the Rangers again tonight.
The Caps are moving on up, as they defeated the Great Lakes Loons, 8 - 5. That moves the Caps up to 4th place in the Midwest League East, with a record of 5 - 6. The Caps and the Loons square off again tonight.
I watered thoroughly yesterday, so I should be good for one day and maybe longer if the forecast from the NWS pans out.
Mostly, we lazed about after rising late. Mary's computer got hit by Ransom-Ware again, but quick action on her part saved the day.
Mary crafted vegan cheese sandwiches with Coleslaw for lunch, and then she and I took STWD took a short walk in the early afternoon. The intrepid one ate her breakfast @ approx. 2:00 p.m., gulping it down. When Sugar heard the local pyromania, she wanted to speed towards home. Plus, there were too many people and other dogs on the street to make the walk last longer. Sugar's dinner was consumed while she wore her Thundershirt™ @ 5:30 p.m., before she once again repaired to her hide-e-holes for safety.
Following today's morning safari and purchase of the Grand Haven Tribune, I plan to read and be lazy, again. My thumb and wrist are feeling better, but I have a ways to go on my rehab. I can play the girls some, but I get weak quickly. When it comes to my music, I am the impatient sort.
I have an appointment to get a few hairs cut at noon today and Mary has her chat session at the same time. Other than lunch and dinner, we have no plans. We are expecting the latest book for indexing today, but that is subject to change.
I am able to use my new tablet, but it is a steep learning curve. Mary plans to ask our IT guru regarding some concerns about those and other computer issues that she and I have during her chat session.
The sun will rise @ 6:11 a.m. and set @ 9:27 p.m. Ciao.
