Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City." Our current temperature, 57 degrees, matches the overnight low. Today after the sun rises at 7:14, the skies will be sunny as we reach our high of 72° with no chance of precipitation. Tuesday will be about the same. Wednesday, ditto. Thursday, batten down the hatches. The chance for severe T-storms rises to 80%. What does that mean to us? Watering on Tuesday, mowing on Wednesday, and soothing Sugar the Weather Dog on Thursday.
Saturday we had a great time visiting with Adam and Stephany. It was Adam''s 40th birthday and Stephany put on a terrific celebration. Adam's friends joined the party, and Stephany outdid herself with the food and libations. The festivities started about 12:00 p.m., and continued until nearly 12:00 a.m. Many stories were swapped, lots of laughter, good music, some of which I helped provide. The food was so good, that we came home with some that we had for lunch and dinner yesterday. Odds are that we will have more again today. All of this is my way of saying happy birthday Adam. Your mother and I loved the kid that you were, the man you have become, and the husband that you are. It has been nearly 10 years since Adam and Stephany got married. Wow, time flies when you are having fun. Here's to at least 40 more years for Adam.
In sports, the boys in blue fell to the Pirates, 4 - 10. My beloved Red Sox also lost, to the Blue Jays of Toronto, 1 - 3. The Tigers eased past the S.F.Giants, 5 - 1. Pro football was as expected. The Bears fell to the Buffalo Bills in O.T., 20 23. The Lions open tonight, their first Monday night game in over 40 years. Their opponent will also be named the Giants, this team from New York. NCAA football was a mixed bag. The MSU Spartans were thoroughly outplayed by the Oregon Ducks, 27 - 46 on Saturday. The UM Wolverines were crushed by the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, 0 - 31. The Northern Illinois huskies easily handled the Northwestern Wildcats, 23 - 15.
Today editing duties call. I also have to pick up Sugar the Weather Dog from day camp. She will be freshly bathed and totally exhausted. It will take her several days to recover, just in time for those severe T-storms.
The jury is still out on that book I started reading a few days ago. It has a ring of truth to the fiction, but I don't know how much I am liking the read. A few more chapters may help to decide.
Not much else is happening. The sun will set at 8:08 p.m. tonight. Ciao.
