Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 3:30 a.m. in "The City." Currently the temperature just outside the Weather Window is 47°, which is as low as we'll get tonight. In addition, the predicted fog is starting to form out there. Today we should get to 61° under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will continue to rise throughout the week, peaking on Saturday at 71°, albeit with windy conditions and T-storms in the forecast.

I just watched the northbound run of the train go by. It was a long one. The usual twin locomotives, this time with the newer liveried one in the lead and under the direction of the horn happy engineer. There were 54 covered hopper cars, many with graffiti, rust and other problems. In fact, there were two of those cars with Conrail livery, very rare. In addition, one lone box car was surrounded by a single black tank car, four white tank cars, and two white with black strip tankers. I was downstairs at the time of its passage, so it was like having a front row seat on a train board.

In sports, the boys in blue welcomed back Anthony Rizzo, who hit a bottom of the ninth walk-off home run. As is too often the case, starting pitcher Travis Wood didn't get any run support, and so the relief staff got the victory, 1 - 0, over the Reds. My beloved Red Sox had the day off before beginning a series against the Pirates tonight. The Tigers were victorious over the Twins, 8 - 6. The Tigers still hold a one and one half game lead over the Royals in the A.L. Central.

The day unfolded with a whimper rather than a bang. We got up, took the intrepid weather dog for her morning walk, and then settled in. We were supposed to do work all day, but I was never tasked with my end of the effort, so I bet that I'll have to work very hard today. I understand that I have to use three different colors of highlighters. I don't know on what yet, but I was told that I will be commenting on this book in great detail.

I did get some music transcribed, and that is always a good thing. However, I did that without benefit of the girls. I finished three crossword puzzles and never read any of my book.

So that looks like enough after the sun rises at 7:22 a.m. It should be enough before the sun sets at 7:51 p.m. Ciao.
