Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City,."
We have a current temperature of 40° under partly-cloudy skies. The NWS has issued yet another Small Craft Advisory for late this evening into Sunday night. That warning means that there will be Gale Force Winds of up to 35 knots and waves will build in the "Big Lake" from 3' - 5' tonight, up to 5' - 7' on Sunday. Whether you are an experienced sailor with a very large ship, or if you are not experienced and have only a small craft, it would be advisable to stay off the waters. The high temperature forecast for today calls for a maximum of 47° after the sun rises @ 8:21 a.m. and before it sets @ 6:33 p.m.
Don't forget, tonight is the night that Daylight Savings Time ends in the United States. The State of Florida passed a law in July to have year-round Daylight Savings Time in Florida, but without approval from the U.S. Congress, Florida can't avoid the change that is scheduled for 2:00 a.m. Sunday, when you turn your clock(s) back one-hour.
I plan to stay in my La-Z-Boy in the media room today, starting with the football game between the Spartans of MSU and the Terrapins of Maryland in Maryland @ 12:00 p.m.
I'll segue from there to the game between the Wolverines of Michigan and the Nittany Lions of Penn State in the "Big House" in Ann Arbor, MI.
The Huskies of Northern Illinois played the University of Akron Zippers on Thursday night, winning that game, 36 - 26. The Huskies are scheduled to play the University of Toledo Rockets on Wednesday, November 7, @ 7:00 p.m.
In baseball news, the Cubs picked up the $20 million option on Cole Hamels for the 2019 season. Hamels was traded to the Cubs late in the season, and proved effective as a starter. Hamels was a replacement for Darvish. With the season-long injury to Darvish, he of the $126 million for six years contract, the Cubs needed a reliable starting pitcher. Every pitch Darvish threw for the Cubs in 2018 cost the team about $105,000! Yes, he was injured, and yes, the pitcher he was supposed to replace, 2015 Cy Young winner, Jake Arrietta, had a record with the Phillies of 10 - 11 for a measly $10.7 million! The Cubs solidified their starting rotation by signing Hamels to go with Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, Jose Quintana, and hopefully, Yu Darvish and Tyler Chatwood.
We returned the fencing that failed to restrict STWDs movements into the vast gardens of the PE, as it wasn't of any value. We are now left with an unknown option. I guess we can try to teach an old dog new tricks, but Sugar can be stubborn in her dotage.
Mary will be in the kitchen today. I did the indoor chores yesterday, so my work is done and I will watch football and read once we have walked with the fur-children. Ciao.
