Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 1:00 a.m. in "The City."

I just finished another novel, this one in my favorite large-print format. It was 393 pages, but if it were in standard typeface, it would have been 320 pages. At any rate, it was like reading a comic book in the old days, quick and fun. Good characters, marginal plot, and the usual cast of bad-guys. What's not to like?

We have a current temperature of 52° under partly-cloudy skies. The high temperature today will only reach 57° under sunny skies. The sun will rise @ 6:07 a.m. and set tonight @ 9:19 p.m.

Baseball news was once again split. The Cubs dropped a heart-breaker to the Cardinals, 1 - 2, That loss dropped the Cubs into 2nd place, 1 1/2 games behind the Brewers. The Cubs play later today @ 4:05 p.m. EDT in a makeup game against the Angels.

My beloved Red Sox got past the Yankees last night, 8 - 5 behind a stellar pitching performance by David Price. Sadly, the Sox are still in 3rd place, 8 and 1/2 games in back of the 1st place Yankees. The Sox travel to Kansas City for a game Tuesday night against the Royals @ 8:15 p.m.

The Tigers returned to their old ways, losing to the Braves, 4 - 7, to remain in 4th place in the AL Central. That other team from Chicago has a better record. The Tigers return to Comerica Park Tuesday night to welcome the Tampa Bay Rays @ 7:10 p.m.

The West Michigan White Caps split a pair with the Lake County, OH Captains yesterday, losing the 1st game, 3 - 7, but winning the 2nd, 4 - 2. The Caps are off today before they welcome Mary's sentimental favorites, the Dayton Dragons @ 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.

We had a great day getting lost in the wilds of West Michigan as we looked for the one-room school houses. We found three out of six and I took pix of their exteriors and some of their interiors too.

Our first "find" was the Pigeon Creek school built in 1873, and which was in use until 1961.
This is the first time that a tour of this type had been held. at six of the schools.
Our second "find" was the Ottawa School, established in 1867. It is now used as the headquarters of the historical society.
The building has a restroom, but this was replica of the facilities in the 1800s.
Once upon a time, heat was provided by this stove.
Our last "find" was the South  Evergreen Schoolhouse, also established in 1867.
While all of the schoolhouses are undergoing restoration this one was the least complete.
Each of the schoolhouses we visited had desks set up in a similar fashion to these.
All in all, we had a fun day finding new places and seeing things we had never seen before, but which were so close to home.

We ended our day at home, reading, doing the crossword puzzle, and listening to the radio.

Earlier in the day, we had combined our efforts to put a white bean soup into the slow-cooker for our dinner last night. As always, any soup is good for me, but Mary even likes this one. When we were done and had let the fur-children out for another of their nightly trips. I came upstairs to read, watch the Red Sox win, and veg out.

Today, we have no specific plans. Tuesday, we plan to use out grill for the second time this spring to make some grilled veggies, vegan sausages, and sweet corn on the cob. Ciao.
