Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 7:00 a.m. in "The City.
We have a current temperature of 60° as we strive to reach today's high of 63°. I was outside around 6:00 a.m., and the winds are indeed blowing around 15 - 20 mph, so that Small Craft Advisory that is in effect until 11:00 a.m. this morning is probably warranted. You know what that means, inexperienced sailors, small boats, watercraft without instruments, and fools should stay off the waters of the "Big Lake."
While the weather here in the Tri-Cities area is not bad, all things considered, there is a 30% chance for T-storms later this afternoon into the early evening hours. We shall see. In this video clip I have linked to, courtesy of Weather.com, you can see the effects of a small tornado on a deck in New Jersey, so I am thankful that tornadoes are very rare, at least for now, in our area.

Near Amarillo, TX on June 11, there was a T-storm that looked eerily like a bomb going off. STWD would have been scared out of her wits. Me too. Once again, my thanks to Weather.com for the video clip.

Elsewhere in the news of the day, I watched both ends of the Friday train run as it passed through our fair city. At 10:18 a.m., MMRR locomotives 2019 and 2025, passed by heading south, moving slowly, leading some heavily laden rail cars, which included, 20 CHCs, 10 DBTCs, three DWTCs, and one GTC.
Later, as Ginger and I watched, those same locomotives pass again @ 1:53 p.m. They had in tow empty cars, which consisted of four CHCs, one DBTC, and one DWTC.
Earlier in the morning, Mary and I collaborated on our latest version of vegan hammish, one half wrapped in cheesecloth for density, and one half unwrapped for a more loose consistency. We used Mary's homemade bouillon for the requisite liquid and they both turned out fine. Part of the loose hammish became our dinner.
Baseball news yesterday was mostly bad.The Cubs fell to the superior and NL West leading Dodgers, 3 - 5. Kyle Hendricks looked good early-on, as did the Cubs offense, but that went away after I fell asleep and thus the negative results. More bullpen woes were in evidence to go along with some great hitting by Bryzzo and great defense by Alberto Almora Jr. The Cubs and the Dodgers play again @ 9:10 p.m. EDT, when Yu Darvish tries to finally win his third game of this not so young 2019 season.
My beloved Red Sox are showing some signs of life, probably too little too late, as they defeated the very bad Baltimore Orioles last night, 13 - 2. The Sox and the Orioles play again this afternoon @ 4:10 p.m., when Chris Sale tries to win his own elusive 3rd game.
The Tigers, what can I say? They were dropped by the superior Cleveland Indians yesterday, 13 - 4. The Tigers have pitching help developing in their farm system, but since this season is already a loss, I wouldn't rush these young pitchers too soon for the sake of some pointless wins. The Tigers and the Indians play tonight @ 6:10 p.m., when another of the Tigers' unknown pitchers is recalled from the minors to act as cannon fodder for the Indians.
Still no hope at the Tigers' A level of the farm system, as the West Michigan WhiteCaps fell to the South Bend Cubs, 3 - 5. Tonight, the Caps try again to win one over the Cubs @ the Fifth/Third Ballpark beginning @ 7:05 p.m.
I did the usual male thing yesterday while trying to set up our new internet radio. If I had listened to Mary, I'd not have wasted several hours of my life that I'll never get back. But, like too many husbands, I didn't listen and use her simple fix to get SiriusXM™ to work. Thus, I devoted many long and aggravating hours to something that should have taken mere minutes. Oh well, at least I was running true to form. After many hair-pulling hours, and as you may know, I don't have those to waste either, we were up and running.
Today, Irish Jam, reading, and looking at the cloudy skies all day. Home, home in the Tri-Cities. Ciao.
