Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 6:00 a.m. in "The City."
The sun rose into partly-cloudy skies this morning @ 6:05 a.m. and it will set into mostly-clear skies @ 9:23 p.m. In between, we should see the sun break through in the afternoon hours to accompany a high temperature of 62°. That's five degrees cooler than yesterday. That current temperature of 59° also has some understudies. We have a Beach Hazard Statement, a Lakeshore Flood Advisory, and a Small Craft Advisory in effect until 8:00 p.m. tonight. This morning, there is another of those Dense Fog Advisories in effect until 8:00 a.m.
Yesterday in baseball was not good for yours truly. Only the 37 - 27tied for 1st place in the NL Central Cubs were victorious, as Kyle Hendricks pitched the Cubs to a 5 - 1 win over the visiting Cardinals. Tonight, the Cubs travel to Colorado to meet the Rockies @ 8:40 p.m. EDT, when Yu Darvish once again attempts to earn his salary and get even with the league @ 3 - 3.
My beloved 34 - 32, 3rd place in the AL East Red Sox, lost to the 40 - 24, 2nd place in the AL East Rays, 1 - 6. The Sox could not get anything going at the plate. More bad news in Red Sox nation, as David "Big Papi" Ortiz, former Red Sox slugger and all around nice guy, was shot in the back in his native Dominican Republic yesterday. He is expected to make a full recovery following surgery.
The Sox welcome the 34 - 30, 2nd place in the AL West TX Rangers to Fenway tonight @ 7:10 p.m.
The Tigers are still rebuilding, but on what foundation? I do not know. They were trounced by the 43 - 21, 1st place in the AL Central Twins, 2 - 12 in a match-up of "division rivals." LOL. The Tigers get a chance to feast on the lowly Royals in Kansas City tonight @ 8:15 p.m.
The West Michigan White Caps now have sole possession of 8th/last place in the MWL East division, following two losses to the Bowling Green Hot Rods yesterday, 1 - 4 and 2 - 3. What can I say, the second half of the season has to be better. The Caps and the Hot Rods play again this afternoon in Bowling Green @ 1:05 p.m.
I am hard at work on my coloring whenever the light in my studio cooperates. I don't want to color when the light is inadequate, as this alters the way the colors look.
Otherwise, not much is on tap for today. Maybe a movie, possibly more cooking, likely no gardening in the wet vast gardens of the PE, but certainly more reading, playing with the girls, and relaxing. Ciao.
