Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:00 a.m. in "The City."

As I may have recently picked up some additional readers, I feel compelled to remind everyone that the derivation for my opening line comes from two sources. The Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be portion, comes from Coast to Coast AM, and its regular overnight host, George Noory. The second portion is from that old radio/TV drama, Dragnet, wherein Jack Webb, in his role as Sergeant Joe Friday of the L.A. Police department, opened every episode with the line, "This is The City, Los Angeles, California." So in homage to the late Jack Webb and the still living George Noory, I open every one of my blogs with my own opening line. Call it my own personal idiosyncrasy.

We have a current temperature of 54° as we head toward our overnight low of 51°. Today, after the sun rises @ 7:49 a.m. and well before it sets @ 7:15 p.m., the NWS (National Weather Service) is forecasting a 40% chance for overnight showers that will extend into the later morning hours today, with a possibility of T-storms. STWD, (Sugar the Weather Dog), will not be pleased. It took a walk yesterday and a force out this early morning to get her back on schedule, so to speak.

I was just about to wrap up my latest historical romance novel, Next Year in Havana, but I was interrupted by Ginger's stare that indicated that she wanted to go out, again. Unlike STWD, Ginger seems to need to go out about every two hours before she will settle in for the night. Sugar can go for 24 hours, or so it seems.

So, as soon as I am done with this blog, I'll be getting back to my reading.

Sports news was mixed yesterday.

My beloved Red Sox and starting pitcher, David Price, couldn't get it going last night, so the Sox tied their ALDS series with the Yankees by losing, 2 - 6. The Sox and the Yankees return to the field @ Yankee stadium Monday night @ 7:10 p.m.

Naturally, the Astros dispatched the hapless Indians 3 - 1, to take a 2 - 0 lead in their NLDS series. They AStros and the Indians move to on Monday @ 1:30 p.m.

The Brewers with a 2 - 0 lead in their NLDS series, move to Colorado to play the Rockies on the Rockies home turf @ 3:37 p.m. today.

College football news yesterday featured three teams I follow, two Michigan based teams, the Wolverines of Michigan and the Spartans of Michigan State. The Wolverines defeated the Terrapins of Maryland, 42 - 21 in their Wolverines Homecoming game, while  the Spartans didn't look very good, as they lost to a hungry Northwestern Wildcat team, 19 - 29, also the Homecoming game for the Spartans.

The Huskies of Northern Illinois University, tripped up the Cardinals of Ball State, 24 - 16.

We got a few errands run yesterday and finished our day at Stan's Bar and Grill in Spring Lake. When we got home, we fed the fur-children and then Mary made a great dinner of spaghetti and my famous vegan Italian meatballs with a side of garlic bread. I retired to the media room and fell asleep in my La-Z-Boy shortly after I watched a Hallmark Channel movie. I slept until nearly 11:00 p.m., when I began to read again. As is often the case, Mary stayed downstairs to watch apocalyptic themed movies.

We have no specific plans for today. I'll finish the crossword from the Grand Haven Tribune and start another novel. Mary will probably get into the kitchen once she is done with the morning news programs. Somehow, we'll get the fur-children to go out after breakfast, weather permitting. Ciao.
