Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I just finished my second novel in three days. What can I say? I should have gone to bed, but I fell asleep for a while and then read. I watched a couple of car-themed shows and also watched the Wolverines of Michigan, lose to Notre Dame, 17 - 24. From the opening kickoff that Notre Dame returned for a score to the way that the Wolverines couldn't stop anything that the ND offense was doing, the Wolverines looked bad. Maybe they can prevail against Western Michigan next Saturday.

The Huskies of Northern Illinois University were crushed by the Hawkeyes of Iowa, 7 - 33. It is going to be a long season.

The Bears couldn't lose as they didn't play yesterday. They meet the Packers and a healthy Aaron Rogers next Sunday night.

The Lions and their new head coach, Matt Patricia, wait until Monday, 9/10, to try their luck against the Jets.

Baseball news yesterday was 50/50. The 80 - 55 Cubs surged as they defeated the Phillies last night, 7 - 1. Kris Bryant returned to the lineup and got a double. Kyle Hendricks cruised in his 11th win. The Cubs and the Phillies close out their series this afternoon @ 1:35 p.m.

My beloved, 94 - 43 Red Sox, handily dispatched that other team from Chicago yesterday, 6 - 1. The Sox try to add to that other team's woes again today @ 2:10 p.m.

The 54 - 82 Tigers slipped into 4th place in the AL Central with a 1 - 6 loss to the Yankees. They try to win one over the Yankees today @ 1:05 p.m. EDT.

The 67 - 79 Caps look like they'll miss the playoffs this year as they lost a must-win game to the TinCaps, 3 - 10. They too will try again tonight @ 6:00 p.m.

Elsewhere, it rained a lot here yesterday and we expect more today, perhaps as early as 5:00 a.m. when T-storms are predicted by the NWS at 70%. If that happens, STWD will return to her hide-e-hole. She didn't want to eat yesterday morning as she was so scared of the storms. We have a current temperature of 73° under cloudy-skies as befits the 70% chance for more storms.

Mary and I didn't do much on our anniversary, just read and took a short walk to JWs for some early libations. Mary was/is a bit under the weather, so I did some indoor chores and made some vegan sausages. I tried a variation on my regular recipe, substituting the grind I made before for the regular pinto beans. The sausages taste great, so great, that Mary added some to our dinner of homemade pizza along with some pineapple rings.

The sun will rise this morning @ 7:10 a.m. and set later tonight @ 8:17 p.m. Ciao.
