Good morning or good evening, wherever yo may be. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City."
Our collective wedding anniversary yesterday was nothing short of terrific. STWD and I took the morning safari solo.during which she was described by a passing pair of tween young men as the "Cutest dog ever." Who am I to disagree?
Mary was working with our OOT IT guru to resolve a computer audio playback issue. In addition, she was happier than a deer herd in a cornfield, continuing the reorganization of her craft/knitting stash. She also completed what she has dubbed UFOs, that's unfinished objects of the knitting variety. A big plus, she rearranged some of the storage cabinets in her kitchen. That seems to give her great pleasure.
I was in the man-cave listening to Real Oldies WGVU, our NPR oldies station, a service of Grand Valley State University, as I completed work on one project and moved another closer to completion.
Following that, I spent some time in my music room playing with Ivy, my 12 string guitar. I found time to transcribe some music too and those two activities always make me feel good.
We walked over to City Hall to pay our real estate taxes and to turn in our applications for absentee ballots for the November elections. Here in Michigan, perhaps across the US, a person who is over 60 years of age can get an absentee ballot for any election. There is at least one advantage to being of a certain age.
The Cubs rallied to defeat the visiting Giants, 5 - 4 last night. That moves the Cubs to a 1st place record of 86 - 47 in the NL Central. They also have a 15.5 game lead over the 2nd place Cardinals, who lost, and an 18 game lead over the 3rd place Pirates, who also lost. The Cubs and the Giants play again today @ 2:20 p.m.
The Tigers were off before playing the Royals tonight @ 8:15 p.m. The Tigers are still in 2nd place in the AL Central with a record of 72 - 61. That record is good enough for a nine-game lead over that other team from Chicago, which has a sub-.500 AL Central record of 63 - 70. That's good enough for 4th place and a share of the post-season vacation club.
My beloved Red Sox also enjoyed an off day before they traveled to Oakland to play the As @ 10:05 p.m. tonight. The Sox are also in 2nd place with a record of 74 - 59 in the AL East, 2.0 games behind the Blue Jays, who also enjoyed a day off.
The Caps tried, but they lost, to the visiting South Bend Cubs in an MWL League game in Comstock Park, MI. The Caps record of 30 - 34 leaves them in 5th place. They face the SB Cubs @ home again tonight @ 7:00 p.m.
Otherwise, the day was uneventful in a positive way. Our mattress delivery is postponed until next Tuesday. The original delivery time of between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. seemed too late to me. My baking yak will probably disagree for several more days.
Today we will be in the kitchen after the morning safari with the intrepid one making a cake and another roast beest. Then Mary will continue her self-imposed reorganization tasks, multitasking during her afternoon chat session. Afterward, I'll probably repair to my music room and then to the media room for another Cubs game.
We have a current temperature of 56 very fall-like degrees under clear skies. Today's high is expected to be 77° under sunny skies with 58% relative humidity. It should be a good day for walking for our entire family. The temperature will get into the 80s as the days and weeks progress, but the humidity should be lower from this day forward. The 10-day forecast from the NWS shows possible T-storms one week from today. I guess that my forecast for continued watering is accurate.
The sun will rise today @ 7:11 p.m. and set @ 8:16 p.m. Ciao.
