Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 64° that feels like 64° under clear-skies with a slight wind out of the northeast @ six mph. Our overnight low is forecast to drop to 59° by 7:00 a.m. today.

You may or may not have been wondering why I haven't been reporting the very local weather here at the PE. That's because my DTWS had gone south, so to speak, and I had to work with the manufacturer to procure a new unit under the warranty. I can now report that all of my new outdoor sensors have been synced to the base station and they are now in place at the front and rear of the manse.

The NWS is showing a current barometric pressure of 30.16" of Hg and rising, while my DTWS is showing 29.51" of Hg and steady. Interestingly enough, the outdoor temperatures being shown on my DTWS are both 64°, matching the reported temperature shown by the NWS. To borrow an old phrase made popular by the late singer/songwriter, John Denver, Far Out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-OhYLVSGj0

The sun will be rising in a tad more than four hours @ 6:49 a.m. and it will set later @ 8:48 p.m.

Great news! After an absence from the PE of nearly two-years, our son and daughter in law will be paying a visit this weekend. We are eager to actually see them in person.

Bad news on the baseball front, as three out of the four teams that I follow lost their games.

The 4th place in the NL Central, 52 - 66 Cubs, continue their fall from grace. They were victimized by the fifth-place in the AL East @ 49 - 67 Miami Marlins last night, 10 - 14 as RHP starter Adbert Alzolay, 4 - 13, was removed from the game in the 2nd inning with a 4 - 1 lead. That early exit followed an injury to Alzolay after he served up a Grand Slam home-run to the Marlins. The Cubs went on to lose the game, 10 - 14. Both teams take the field again this evening @ 6:10 p.m. EDT, when RHP Zach Davies, 6 - 9, throws the first pitch. Wait till next decade?

My beloved, 2nd place in the AL East, 67 - 51 Red Sox, beat the woeful 5th place in the AL East the 38 - 76 Orioles, 8 - 1. Good news, newly acquired Kyle Schwarber was the DH and while he didn't get a hit, he did draw two walks and scored two runs for the Sox.

More good news, we hope. LHP Chris Sale, 0 - 0, makes his first Major-League start in nearly two-years this afternoon for the beloved when he takes the mound @ 4:10 p.m. Will his return and the return of Kyle Schwarber from the IL be enough to propel the Sox back to the top of the AL East? Or, will their return only prove what some baseball pundits have been saying, that the Red Sox were playing above their weight for the first three months of the 2021 season. Stay tuned.

The still rebuilding but showing some life, 3rd place in the AL Central, 57 - 61 Tigers, fell to the 2nd place in the AL Central @ 56 - 58 Cleveland Indians, 4 - 7. Sadly, Miguel "Miggy" Cabrera is still stuck at 499 home-runs. The Tigers and the Indians play again this evening @ 6:10 p.m. when RHP Wily Peralta, 3 - 2, tosses the ball for the Tigers.

Sad to say, but the 41 - 46, 5th place in the High A East Division West Michigan White Caps, AKA "The Caps", fell to the 46 - 41, 2nd place in that same division Lake County, OH Captains last night, 4 - 5. The Caps and the Captains play two today, with the first game beginning @ 4:00 p.m. and the second game, a make-up game for the rain-out of Wednesday's game, beginning shortly thereafter.

Otherwise, not much is on tap here at the manse. We are enjoying our newest TV series, Eureka, a Sci-Fi series set in the fictional town of Eureka, OR, which features a cast of characters with above-average IQs and quirky goings on. We like it!

I am nearing the finish of my latest novel, Dan Brown's Lost Symbol, featuring his famous character, symbologist, Robert Langdon. Even in my preferred large-print format, it is a formidable read. Mary has started a new book in one of her favorite genres, time-travel or multiple timelines. I forget the title.

I have to water our new plantings today after I let our fur-children out for their morning offerings. Ciao.
