Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 12:30 a.m. in "The City."

Along with my birthday on August 30, this time of year also has two other noteworthy events for our little family. September 1, is our anniversary. This year marks 42.  It really is true what they say about time flying, On September 7, 1974, Adam was born. Here we are nearly 41 years later. I still have memories of he and I going out and about while I was off work one day a week. Adam was just a baby then, and I wouldn't have missed those excursions for anything.

Mary was working the night shift, so I did my best to get out of the house and do what Mary often called "Guying Around" with Adam. I had a couple of rough years in 2010 and 2011, but with Mary's love and assistance, I made it through, and that means that I count myself lucky each and every day. Happy anniversary Mary.

Trainspotting yesterday was interesting. I was out on the morning safari with STWD, when I heard the southbound train passing through GH. Engine #2019 was back, but now #2057 was MIA. In any event, at 10:45 a.m., #2019 was seen towing seven CHCs and three DBTCs. At 2:40 p.m., #2019 returned heading north, towing a total of 11 CHCs, one with blue ends, nine DBTCs, two BCs, and two WTCs (white tank cars). I think my old friend, the horn happy engineer, was at the throttle, as the horn sounded almost endlessly as he passed through "The City."

In sports news, the boys in blue were back once again. They were doing well for a while, but then the flood gates opened in the top of the seventh and the top of the ninth. The Reds ended up winning, with the final score, 6 - 13 in their favor. Three errors by Starlin Castro added fuel to the fire. No matter the spin manager Joe Maddon put on the game, Castro did not have his head in the game. Oh well, as the announcers said for the umpteenth time, tomorrow is another game. The Tigers had the day off. My beloved Red Sox defeated the Yankees, 4 - 3. The Caps lost to the Lake County Loons, 1 - 5.

I had a rather pedestrian day yesterday. I put the mirror back on the wall after the picture wire broke while I was cleaning the mirror. Just one of those little things you have to do with a house. Mary wasn't feeling all that well, so she needed to put my valances aside until today. No hurry, I've waited several years, so a few more days won't make any real difference.

For our anniversary, Mary asked what plans I had. Not much really, after 42 years. Sorry. Given the weather, with the high heat and humidity, going walkabout isn't high on my list. I have no plans that require me to be out for any length of time. I have to water the gardens of the PE, harvest some kale, and take the intrepid weather dog for our morning walk. I don't know what else.

The temperature today will peak at 84 humid degrees under partly cloudy skies. The children of GH are enjoying their final week of summer vacation, Here in Michigan, schools don't start until the day after Labor Day. The sun will rise at 7:09 a.m. and set at 8:19 p.m. with a waning gibbous moon. No rain is expected until Friday, if then, Ciao.
