Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 12:00 a.m. in "The City."
We had a terrific day yesterday, as we first visited the Grand Ravines Lodge/Park and then later attended the concert by Mary Fahl @
Seven Steps Up. I took a lot of pictures, so I'll include some of them here.

A Labrador retriever doing just that in the Grand River. |
|
Mary and her brother, Ed, in deep conversation on the deck of the lodge. |
|
A symbiotic relations ship between this vine and its host, the tree. |
|
Looking straight up into the canopy. |
|
One of many trails in the park. |
|
Same here. |
|
This large group made us glad we didn't join the Wildflower Walk. |

The Grand Rapids water intake on the shores of the "Big Lake." |
|
Somewhere along the road home. |
|
When we got home, I took this pic of some of the daffodils in our vast gardens. Mary cut some for her flower room. |
|
St Francis and his animals watch over the gardens in all seasons. |
Later, Mary prepared a nice dinner of large pasta shells with vegan sauce and my vegan Italian meatballs. Ed liked it too.
Later, we made that trip across the bridge to Spring Lake to see Mary Fahl in concert @
Seven Steps Up. Ms. Fahl performed her own songs, as well as those of others. She has a powerful voice and a great range that worked well in the acoustically perfect
Seven Steps Up hall.
Here she is performing and singing.
|
She played a Gibson electric guitar, |
|
And this Taylor acoustic guitar as she sang. She is an accomplished guitarist. |
Like almost all singer/songwriters, Ms. Fahl had recordings for sale after the concert. Mary got an autographed copy of an EP Ms. Fahl had for sale. This one is a sample of her upcoming album of classical music as interpreted/recorded by Ms. Fahl.
Baseball news yesterday was mixed.
My beloved Red Sox fell to the Tampa Bay Rays, 2 - 5. LHP Chris Sale recorded 8 Ks and only gave up two earned runs, but he still took the loss, number 5, against no wins. He is improving? The Sox welcome the Oakland As to Fenway tonight @ 7:10 p.m.
The Tigers dropped another one to that other team from Chicago, 1 - 4. The Tigers' batters struck out 20 times!. The Tigers are in Philadelphia Tuesday night to face the Phillies @ 7:05 p.m.
The 2nd place Cubs took 15 innings and several pitchers to defeat the D'Backs, 6 - 5. The Cubs are next in Seattle to face the Mariners on Tuesday night @ 10:10 p.m. EDT.
The Caps triumphed over the Lake County, OH Captains yesterday, 5 - 0. The Caps are off until Tuesday when they travel to Clinton, IA to meet the Lumberkings @ 7:30 p.m.
The current temperature is 41° under clear skies. Today's high, after the sun rises @ 6:41 a.m. and long before it sets @ 8:43 p.m. will be 45° with a 100% chance for showers.
Ed will be departing later this morning as he travels to Illinois and then on to TX. We enjoyed having him with us for a few days. The fur-children have been at their doctor's for boarding and they look quite contented in one of the pictures that was texted to us.
We'll pick them up later today after we run some errands and we will be glad to have them home. Ciao.
