Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 4:00 a.m. in "The City."

We have a current temperature of 39° as the wind blows @ 21mph! That wind will generate a Small Craft Advisory on the "Big Lake." Small boats, inexperienced sailors, and boats without instruments are advised to stay in port. That seems likely at this time of year.

Today's high will reach 42° with a chance for showers in the afternoon hours. I have to go to the library for my monthly Coffee and Coloring session later this morning followed by a stop at my barbers at noon and then more P/T this afternoon. A very busy day, to say the least.

I am nearly certain that one of my old English professors, Dr. Jack Dodds, would have said something like, "If it is obvious, you don't have to say say so, and if it isn't, saying so won't make it so", or words to that effect. So, I guess I could have avoided saying that it will be a very busy day.

At any rate, the sun will rise this morning @ 7:27 a.m. and set later @ 8:10 p.m.

In sports news, my beloved Red Sox are off to their worst start since 2012. They are now 1 - 4 and in last place in the AL East, following an 0 - 7 loss to the As in Oakland last night. LHP David Price had the best start of the season amongst Sox starting pitchers, going six innings, but giving up a 2 run dinger in the bottom of the 6th. All five Sox starting pitchers are without a win, The Sox and the As go at it again tonight @ 10:07 p.m. as LHP Chris Sale gets the ball for his second start of this young season.

In Atlanta, the 1 - 3 Cubs have fallen into the basement in the NL Central following their loss to the Braves, 0 - 8. I said in yesterday's blog that at least the Cubs are scoring runs, well... In their latest game, the Cubs made six errors, their most since 1982, and RHP Kyle Hendricks was totally ineffective. Tonight, the Cubs and the Braves face off once again @ 7:20 p.m. when LHP Jon Lester takes the ball.

In NYC, the 4th place in the AL Central Tigers fell to the 2 - 2, 3rd place in the AL East Yankees. 1 - 3. The Yankees are not doing great this year, but better than the Red Sox, the Cubs, and the Tigers. RHP Tyson Ross couldn't solve the Yankees and took the loss. The Tigers and the Yankees go again tonight @ 6:35 p.m. when RHP Jordan Zimmerman takes the mound for his second start. By the by, the Tigers home opener @ Comerica Park is Thursday @ 1:10 p.m. against the Royals. The game-time temperature has been forecast by the NWS to be 43° with rain/snow in that forecast. A postponement is possible.

Good news also on Thursday, the West Michigan WhiteCaps, AKA The Caps, open their season in South Bend, IN against the South Bend Cubs @ 7:05 p.m. Saturday, the Caps have their home opener against those same Cubs in the Fifth/Third Ballpark @ 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Caps, an A level affiliate of the Tigers, are expecting partly-cloudy skies and a high temperature of 64° when they take the field. We'll wait for better weather in Detroit at Comerica Park and at the Fifth/Third Ballpark in GR before contemplating attending any games.

Mary once again used her ever-expanding culinary skills to make dinner last night. She saw a picture on Twitter™ and took her kitchen knowledge to the big-box nearly everything store to buy the necessary ingredients for a delicious mac and cheese with sauteed vegetables. This one is another keeper. Here is her creation in all its glory.

Looks good, doesn't it?
I am currently listening to Coast to Coast AM and its host, George Noory, as he and his guests are discussing ghost stories. George always does a musical segue between segments in his program. His latest was There's a Kind of Hush by Herman's Hermits. Remember when we were all that young and full of hope? I do. I also hope that you enjoy this clip of Herman and the Hermits from YouTube™, as much as I did.

I was listening long enough to get another musical segue. This is another one from YouTube™ by  Tears for Fears entitled, Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I hope you enjoy this one too.

So as previously noted, I'll be busy and Mary and the fur-children will be keeping the home fires burning. Maybe I'll get in some additional sleep between now and that "grueling" schedule. Ciao.
